Tuvan throat singers Alash at Milliken on Nov. 16

The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College will present the  Tuvan throat singers Alash on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 8 PM in Milliken Auditorium. Flu shots available in Health Services

Students can get their influenza vaccine at Health Services (Biederman Building room 106, main campus) for $15.
No appointment is necessary, walk-ins are accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NMC hosts Bikram yoga teacher Jim Kallett Nov. 1

Northwestern Michigan College will host Jim Kallett as he presents the philosophy and approach of Bikram yoga: what it is, how it works, the history, theory, science and benefits. Kallett’s lecture takes place Friday, November 1 from 6 – 9 p.m. in Room 109 of Scholars Hall. NaNoWriMo – NMC starts Nov. 3

More than 80 percent of Americans say writing a book is on their life bucket list. This November, give it a try by participating with your NMC colleagues in the 15th annual National Novel Writing Month– a worldwide effort to write a 50,000-word book in 30 days.

Impossible? Not to the 341,000 novelists who emerged from NaNoWriMo in 2012. This year, Osterlin Library is hosting three write-ins for WriMos (as participants are called) at NMC and Traverse City: (more…)

Annual Dennos Museum Holiday Art Fair runs Oct. 25-27, with preview Oct. 24

The annual Dennos Museum Holiday Art Fair will be held Friday through Sunday, October 25–27, 2013, with a Thursday preview opening 5-8pm. Fine arts and crafts from 50 area artists, Christmas and Hanukkah gifts, and arts and crafts kits are just a few of the enticements for holiday shoppers.
