Kudos to the following people!

I would like to recognize our 3rd shift lead, Jim Gray for his tenacity and leadership. Like most occupations, nature dictates that custodial work will include moments of chaos, crossed communications and staff shortages. Still, equipment must be moved, supplies delivered, projects coordinated and the “lead phone” carried (to route critical information appropriately.) In addition, to routine cleaning, I’ve witnessed Jim collaborating with fellow employees to make improvements–especially those who take their responsibilities seriously. He shows a strong sense of stewardship for both the NMC community and its resources. Jim’s experience, ability to teach and humility to learn, make him an exceptional Lead. We are fortunate to have him here at NMC.

Kelly Westphal worked a detailed process to make sure that a task I had with HR got completed in a timely and helpful way. She went out of her way to return numerous emails to me and even met me in-person to get my signature on the document in question. She stayed after work to do this…working with my schedule at the UC. Her entire intent was to be kind, helpful and get the job done. The fact that she is one of my former students, too, makes me so proud! Thank you Kelly.

Kudos to Kay Hall who saw students walking around in the cold without proper winter gear and took it upon herself to purchase gloves, hats and scarves, which she put on a table in West Hall with a sign to have students take them if they needed them. Thank you, Kay for thinking of students who needed help during the bitter cold we’ve been having. Let’s all remember to pay it forward.
