Kudos to Sam Foster, Systems and LAN Management: Nursing used a new software program for exams and needed a great deal of support from Sam in working through the challenges of loading this onto devices and making it all work. This is a great tool for nursing students to prepare for computer-based examinations and I’m deeply appreciative of all the work Sam has done to make this work at NMC for our students. His skill and expertise are invaluable.

WALK FOR WELL-BEING
Join your well-being consultant, Marissa.
- Walking strengthens your heart and lungs and tones your muscles.
- When walking, your feet land with less impact than in other sports. This reduces chances of muscle, bone, and joint injury
- Regular walking improves your cholesterol levels and lowers your risk of heart disease. And it helps you control your blood sugar if you have diabetes.
- Walking is a weight-bearing activity, which helps maintain bone density. This can help prevent osteoporosis.
- Taking walks can help you relax and manage stress.

Kudos to Sharon Angel, Custodial Staff: Throughout the year, Sharon has gone above and beyond her job requirements/duties in maintaining the Fine Arts Building. Concrete illustrations of Sharon’s commitment to the college were displayed in the tremendous amount of additional work she put into preparing the Fine Arts Building for our Re-dedication Celebration in September, as well as our Humanities Open House in November. Not only did Sharon work tirelessly in the evenings to prepare the building for these special events, she also showed her support for the Humanities Area by attending both of these events during her off-hours. We are so fortunate to have someone who not only cares about her work, but also cares about her work impacts others!
Kudos to the NMC Foundation Office: The Annual Taste of Success Scholarship Event was held on Friday April 12, 2019. This group of people embody what a collaboration should look like. From planning throughout the year, to the night of the event, all of the members of the department were willing to go the extra step to make sure the event was top notch. Special “night of kudos” to handling all the details from silent auction to check in and check out, as well as being willing to stand out in the cold and wind and direct traffic.
Kudos to Lindsey Lipke and Troy Kierczynski: Kudos to Troy and Lindsey for their work to streamline and organize travel financials/reimbursements for the China Trip. This was a bit more complicated than the typical business trip. We appreciate your help.

Kudos to Dr. Kari Kahler, Associate Dean of Learning Services: Kari was elected Secretary of the national Phi Theta Kappa Association of Chapter Advisors (ACA) during the April 2019 PTK Catalyst Convention in Orlando, FL. The ACA Board serves as a liaison between Phi Theta Kappa advisors and headquarters staff. Kari has been an incredibly dedicated Phi Theta Kappa advisor since 1997 and, under her leadership, our NMC chapter has received multiple national and international awards including Most Distinguished Chapter and Distinguished Officer Team. Kari’s contributions to Phi Theta Kappa on a national level have elevated the importance of providing access and support to promote student success, persistence and completion.
