Kudos to Lisa Boike: Lisa collaborated with the Business Office to help clean up our inventory of fixed assets. She researched the issue and created a script to process a mass disposal of approximately 1,200 obsolete assets in Banner. Without her help, the Business Office would have had to write off each of these assets manually and individually. Lisa saved the Business Office approximately 100 hours of processing time. Further, this script can be used again in the future, and by other colleges nationwide within the Banner Community. Thank you, Lisa!

Kudos to Facilities- Security: Kudos to NMC faculty and staff specifically Security and Facilities for working together to make a safe environment for all learners but especially our young Hawk Owls attending College for kids. Facilities and security personnel are responsible and respond to learners of all ages with respect and a sense of urgency as needed. It is great to know you are behind the scenes. thank you.

Kudos to John Velis and Scott Goethals: With the recent migration to the CourseLeaf software at NMC, many changes have had to be made in how we store our documents that go into our catalog. One of the changes is with the course outcomes for each of our classes. Our course outcomes are saved on Word and/or PDF documents. To move the course outcomes into the new software, each outcome had to be re-typed by hand and entered into the software. There are over 700 course outcomes at NMC which reflects an estimated 233 hours to convert the data. Business/CIT faculty John Velis and Scott Goethals heard of this labor intensive need and came in to NMC on their own time over the summer and wrote computer programs that allowed the Word Documents to be converted electronically and uploaded into our new software. This not only cut down on the hours needed to make the conversion but it also eliminated the possibility of typing errors that could have occurred in re-creating all 700 of our course outcomes.
