Holiday hours for food court and outlets
The following hours will be observed for food locations for the holiday break.
Benefits corner- December 27 pay day process
Direct deposits for the December 27, 2013 pay will be handled like they always are and available in your bank account first thing Friday morning. However, paper paychecks for 12/27/13 will be mailed to employees via US postal mail and not delivered to your department for distribution.

Dennos Museum Center education programs serve students with disabilities
The Dennos Museum Center, under a contract with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, is providing educational programing opportunities for approximately 130 students with disabilities currently enrolled at the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. (more…)

Food drive for NMC Holiday Party
As part of our annual NMC Holiday Party we ask that you please bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Father Fred Foundation. Our goal is to collect enough items to fill AT LEAST 40 boxes!
The Holiday Party Planning Committee members will be providing boxes for each office the 1st week of December so employees who are unable to attend the party still have the opportunity to support the food drive. (more…)
Remembering Edwin “Ted” Kidd
It is with sad hearts that we report the passing of Edwin “Ted” Kidd, 88, on Nov. 23, 2013. Ted was a part of the volunteer staff of the Dennos Museum as a docent and enjoyed leading school children through the Museums art galleries, and visiting elementary classrooms to share his love of Inuit art. In Sept. 2009,NMC president Tim Nelson, authorized by the Board of Trustees, appointed Ted and Phyllis Fellows of NMC, for their steadfast support of the Dennos Museum since its opening in 1991.

Bring the Heat! clothing drive sponsored by student group JASWAG
Student group JASWAG (Jane Adams Social Work Advocacy Group) is sponsoring a clothing drive called Beat the Heat! now through December 13th. They will be collecting new and gently used cold weather gear such as coats, gloves, hats, sweaters, boots, scarves, socks and blankets. (more…)

Thank You Note from Deb Maison
When my dad died on October 22 I lost more than I can even comprehend. Forever is a hard word to think, much less say. Likewise, saying thank you is not really enough for all of you here at NMC who have supported me in this time. The plant the college sent sits in my living room, reminding me of the woods my dad loved and what is good in the world. My dad would have liked that. I know I do.
Benefits corner: Flexible spending accounts
Now that 2014 open enrollment is over, if you are changing to the High Deductible Health Plan and had a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for unreimbursed medical expenses during 2013, remember that you must use up all the funds in the FSA before you can start funding your Health Savings Account (HSA) in 2014.
