Guidelines on Coverage:
Insurance companies and health plans are required to cover at no cost to the member eight individual over-the-counter at-home tests per covered individual within a 30-day period without a prescription from a healthcare professional. This means a family of four, all on the same plan, can purchase up to 32 tests covered 100% by their health plan per month. Note: this is per test, not box (so if there are two tests in a box, that counts for two tests).
Here is a description of the coverage from the U.S. Department Of Health And Human Services.
If you are enrolled in NMC’s Priority Health medical coverage, here is a link to the reimbursement form. Priority Health is working on an automated process so coverage works the same as all other prescriptions, but it has not yet been released.

Kudos to Bryce Turner, Paul Martin, Neil Streeter, and Steve Dix for the countless hours that they have spent mitigating IT security vulnerabilities as they are identified. Each of them has spent many hours into the night and on weekends to ensure that NMC’s IT infrastructure is secure.
Kudos to Kerrey Woughter: Early in the fall semester, Kerrey reached out to the Maritime Department regarding a book she thought would be of interest to the students. The book “Leadership is Language” authored by Capt. L. David Marquet, USN was a perfect fit for the Marine Supervisory Lab. The author detailed the “El Faro” marine casualty and discussed the importance of communication within the hierarchy of a shipboard environment.
Kerrey offered several suggestions and provided templates on how to pursue a book discussion session. I had taken her suggestions and incorporated the text into the students’ curriculum. Kerrey graciously offered to lead the group discussions during students’ lab sessions. Over the course of two weeks, Kerrey attended two four-hour lab sessions effectively leading a roundtable discussion regarding the principle concepts offered by the author and how it pertains to the student’s sense of selves and their leadership styles. These round table discussions proceeded the student’s written final examination essay and further augmented the student’s comprehension of the text. Feedback comments from the students were spectacularly positive and well received as a new learning tool as compared to the typical coursework historically provided within the lab.
Kudos is given to Kerry for her selfless work, time, thoughtfulness, and influence on our Maritime Program. Her amazing foresight was offered without request. I thank her for providing a new and exciting way to present several main concepts to our leadership course.
Kudos to the Student Success Testing Team: Last week the Testing Team did an amazing job managing placement testing and final exams both in person and on Zoom simultaneously. Thank you for all you do for our students and instructors!

Kudos to Emily Crull and Dave Dalquist for revising the Human Resources Staffing & Recruitment section.
Kudos to Denny Nguyen: Denny consistently delivers for NMC, helping resolve pay and HR data issues with fast, accurate and friendly service to all areas of the college. He is a very good communicator, builds solid relationships with every encounter, and ensures that everyone here is paid appropriately and timely, and that the many requests for data are met with a smile (virtually, mostly, these days). We all are better because of his professionalism and passion to serve the college and those it serves.

Kudos to Jeff Cobb and the Chamber singers — What a great concert last weekend and we loved the poetry in between set changes. We appreciate the community that the choir brings together.
Kudos to Chris Hanna and Dennis Shultz: Dennis and Chris went above and beyond for our Industry 4.0 event. They transformed the Great Hall of Technology in Parsons Stulen into an interactive event space hosting 40 people from 13 different manufacturers. We were able to have a guest speaker, national anthem singer, and a technology showcase all in a 2 hr window thanks to their efforts. This occurred on the same day as NMC’s Veterans Day ceremonies so EMT was pulled in many different directions. Thank you, Chris and Dennis, for stepping in and lending Tech and MMTC a hand!
