All used books for this semester at the bookstore will be sent back the first week in March. If you still need books for this semester, please plan to purchase them no later than the week of February 24. After that week only new books will be available for purchase.
The advising center and the student success center have teamed up to make our career services for students more robust. We now have career exploration and planning services through the advising office and career and employment preparation through our new career coach, Dana Laursen, in the student success center. Dana will be available to answer questions, review resumes and cover letters, assist with interview preparation, explore the job hunting process, and cheer you on when you land the job! Drop by or make an appointment to see how she can help. In the meantime, please take our survey about career planning and preparation. The survey only takes a few minutes and will help us plan and improve on our career services.
Sodexo Campus Dining at NMC is committed to creating an exceptional student experience for you, and now it’s your chance to tell them how they are doing. Please take a few minutes to rate their performance at one the dining locations you visit most frequently on campus. Courtney grew up in Middletown, Ohio. She spent two summers abroad studying art history in Florence, Italy and graduated from Miami University (Ohio). After graduation, she spent several years in the western US, first living as a ski bum and outdoor enthusiast in Colorado and then Oregon. Courtney arrived in Northern Michigan in 2010 and enjoys snowshoeing with her border collie and boyfriend, cooking and volunteering.

Tickets for the annual Tasters’ Guild Auction, set for Feb. 28, 2014, at NMC’s Great Lakes Campus are now on sale! This annual event features a strolling dinner of international cuisine prepared by Great Lakes Culinary Institute students and served at more than a dozen tasting tables throughout the waterfront campus.

The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College, in partnership with NMC Art Club, presents Sip & Sketch on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm. NMC students and the public are invited into the galleries for drawing, socializing, and learning about art. Coffee and refreshments will be available in the classroom area outside of the galleries. One of the many student clubs at NMC, the mission of NMC Art Club is to foster and promote the spirit of art and creativity on campus and in the community. (more…)

NMC Outreach Services’ Passport Student Lecture Series continues in February with international student Yuka Noguchi who will speak to attendees about Japan.

With the FY’15 departmental operational plan A3’s coming due on Monday, February 17th, you might appreciate some additional perspective on the strategic direction for NMC. President Nelson provided this important context to members of the Leadership Group during their January 31st planning alignment meeting. A video of Tim’s comments is now available.
