Keep an eye on your calendar for invitations to two of summer’s favorite outside wellness activities, a slow bike ride around campus and outdoor yoga!

NMC Slow Ride

Get outside and enjoy the last few weeks of the summer! Our Blue Cross Wellness Coordinator will lead a slow ride around our beautiful campus. According to the American Council on Exercise, there is quantifiable research suggesting that outdoor exercise provides greater benefits than sweating indoors. In one study, the researchers found that exercising outdoors “was associated with greater feelings of revitalization, increased energy and positive engagement, together with decreases in tension, confusion, anger and depression. Participants also reported greater enjoyment and satisfaction with outdoor activity.” https://www.acefitness.org/education-and-resources/lifestyle/blog/5911/6-benefits-of-exercising-outdoors

NMC Outdoor Yoga

Why try yoga? Workout fads come and go, but virtually no other exercise program is as enduring as yoga. It’s been around for more than 5,000 years. Yoga does more than burn calories and tone muscles. It’s a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. There are more than 100 different forms of yoga. Some are fast-paced and intense. Others are gentle and relaxing.

We usually meet on the lawn in front of Founders Hall at lunch time!
