With the FY’15 departmental operational plan A3’s coming due on Monday, February 17th, you might appreciate some additional perspective on the strategic direction for NMC. President Nelson provided this important context to members of the Leadership Group during their January 31st planning alignment meeting. A video of Tim’s comments is now available. Also available are the Powerpoint slides from that talk and a memo that is referenced in the talk that summaries input from the Board regarding the Board Level Strategic Plan Goals. (more…)

Terry, Anndrea - TERRYAAnndrea Terry joined the NMC staff as a Human Resources Assistant on February 10, 2014. She can be reached at 995-2612 or aterry@nmc.edu.

Anndrea grew up in Warren, MI and went to college at Rochester College for her undergraduate degree and graduated from Oakland University with a Master’s in Counseling and specialized in Wellness Counseling. Anndrea moved to Traverse City and worked as a Crisis Couselor at Third Level Crisis Center for the past two years. She is also a Certified Yoga Teacher. Anndrea loves reading about health and wellness, spending time at the beach with her husband Steven and crafting.

Welcome to NMC Ben!

Minor-Ben - MINORBBen Minor joined the NMC staff as Maritime Engineering Instructor on February 5, 2014. He can be reached at 995-1301 or bminor@nmc.edu.

Ben grew up in Newport, Oregon and graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in Sociology. After graduating from the U of O he lived in Park City UT for eight years where he was a self proclaimed “ski bum” and ski lift technician. In 2003 Ben moved to Traverse City to attend the Great Lakes Maritime Academy. Since graduating in 2006, he has been sailing on a variety of ocean going ships. This last January Ben earned his Chief Engineers License.

His wife Genevieve is the Media Specialist (librarian) at West Senior High, and they have two children: Charlie 6, and Matthew 4.  Ben says they are all very excited for him to be home more with his new position. (more…)

Jenifer Hanrahan - AdmissionsJenifer Hanrahan joined NMC as Admissions Assistant on February 3, 2014. She can be reached at 995-1054 or jhanrahan@nmc.edu.

Jenny grew up in Grand Rapids and moved to Traverse City 30 years ago to be with her husband, Paul. They will celebrate their 30th anniversary this September! She graduated from Grand Rapids Junior College, and Central Michigan University with a degree in Business Administration. She previously worked at the local Home Builders Association as the Membership and Education Director and prior to that West Senior High School as a Para-professional working with technology.

Jenny is the proud mother of four children – Joseph, 26, Emma, 25, David, 22 and William, 20.  She also calls herself a “recovering hockey mom” as she spent 20 years supporting her children’s participation in local hockey programs through their high school years.  She does not have any grandchildren – but is the proud grandmother to a couple of very handsome grand dogs!
