Hello, my name is Madison Williams and I have dystonia. Dystonia is a movement disorder that makes my muscles contract in many painful ways. The reason way I am writing to you today is because on Sunday, June 22 Dystance4Dystonia will take place at the Detroit Zoo supporting the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF). The Foundation provides resources about treatments, specialists and even connections with support groups, to families who have a family member with Dystonia. In an effort to support DMRF’s cause, Dystance4Dystonia spreads awareness, generates donations for DMRF, lets those in attendance show support for their loved ones, and supports their mission to make the freedom to move a reality for everyone by making medical advancements with treatment options and one day finding a cure!
