Kudos to: Cathy McCall, Dan Wasson, Trisha Domagala, Sam Foster, Zeb McCauley, Alison Thornton, Paul Perry, Ed Blough, Nancy Durecki, Brian Lewis, Phil Trowbridge, Casey White, Michelle Yeider and Gary Schetteck– The assistance provided by these individuals was invaluable as Enrollment Services began the office moves for the new “One Stop Shop.” Their patience, smiles and hard work as we moved offices, relocated computer stations and printers, moved phone lines, patched walls, etc., etc. went above and beyond expectations. Their willingness to make themselves available to answer questions and work individually with team members was very much appreciated. Their good nature and continued smiles as we threw last minute changes their way were contagious!

Kudos to the Enrollment Services Team – Cathryn Claerhout, Cindy Deemer, Georgenia Hromada, Jason Smith, Jessica Johnson, Jessie Elliott, Judy Arnold, Judy Druskovich, Julie Hansen, Kaite Lemkie, Katie Malone, Kevin D’Alessandro, Kristi Hallett, Linda Berlin, Lindsay Reed, Lisa Wilmeth, Praju Nivargi, Rorie Kawula, Scott Herzberg, Shannon Friedgen, Sheila Rupp, Sue Newman and Travce Holka – During the past two months, the Enrollment Services Team (Admissions, Records & Registration, Student Financial Services) has done a phenomenal job phasing in the new “One Stop Shop”. They have been bravely smiling through getting new duties, computers, phones and offices. The team is displaying grit, patience, and perseverance while keeping a sense of humor and positive environment for students.
Kudos to Don Cunningham and Todd Haines – A huge thank you to Don, Todd, and the facilities workers for their assistance when the air conditioning went out at the University Center impacting the GVSU Physician Assistant Studies program! Their mid-term exam and practicum was scheduled and we were able to move the students into an area of the University Center that had working AC, which involved moving medical beds, tables, chairs and other equipment. They also helped advocate for our students to have a standalone air conditioning unit in the lab room and ITV room which we could not move. Thank you for your efforts in keeping a comfortable environment for our students to learn.

Kudos to Roy Bartle– I attended the teacher workshop at NMC this past week, and Roy went above and beyond in providing food for all of us teachers; breakfast was supposed to start at 7:30, but many of us were awake and needing coffee earlier than that; Roy made coffee and food available earlier each day, having coffee and fruit and breads available at 6:45!! He chatted with each of us and answered our many questions about the area, he bent over backwards to make us feel comfortable, he just did an amazing job and we are all so very thankful for his hospitality and hard work!!!
Kudos to Deb Patterson for her scheduling prowess and her ability to manage customer needs with manageability. There are a number of behind the scenes logistics that she has to consider for every event on campus. Deb has many customers on and off campus and she does a great job making everything work and most people reschedule for the next year! Thanks Deb for all of your hard work!
Kudos to Jeffrey Cobb, director of Canticum Novum, Peggy Johnson served as piano accompanist, and Mike Hunter assisted with percussion as they led this choir to a performance in Carnegie Hall, June 24, 2017. This choir performed in area churches and Milliken Auditorium with classical and contemporary compositions in a variety of languages. These NMC employees deserve kudos! Bravo!!
Kudos to Chef Bob Rodriquez and a group of students and area chefs once again worked with the Detroit Red Wings Hockey Organization while they held their Prospect Camp at Center Ice in Traverse City. Bob and his volunteer students worked with the Detroit Red Wings Dietician, Lisa McDowell, to create and prepare food that delivered maximum nutrition and fuel for the hockey players’ bodies. This event was highlighted by the cooking class put on at the GLCI for the players. Players rotated through 9 stations where they learned to prepare healthy foods using only 5 ingredients each. Way to go Chef Bob, once again sharing your skills and knowledge with others.
The contest will close on July 14th, but steps can be entered until July 21. We will announce the employee/teams with the highest steps after the 21st!
