Kudos!

Kudos to Chris Hanna! Chris came to my rescue after hours as I was trying to get the computer and projector working before my advisory board committee meeting. He was clearly getting ready to leave work, but stayed and helped me get the equipment running!

Kudos to Shannon Croll! Shannon is super knowledgeable and always shows a genuine interest in helping me achieve my goals! She is the best advisor a student could ask for. She is very responsive and is always smiling during our meetings. I truly appreciate all that she has helped me with, I know I wouldn’t be as organized without her!

Kudos to Scott Goethals, Lisa Von Reichbauer, Lisa Baldyga, Merrick Adams, Amy Burns Bailey, Joe Deater, Hollianne McHugh, Denver Peters, Laura Stevens, Shirl Martin, Heather VanStratt and Amy Shamroe! Thanks to support from Scott Goethals, Lisa Von Reichbauer, Lisa Baldyga, Merrick Adams, Amy Burns Bailey, Joe Deater, Hollianne McHugh, Denver Peters, and Laura Stevens, the Sixty by 30/NOMIAC Training Fair at Michigan Works was a success! Kudos also to Shirl Martin, Amy Shamroe and Heather VanStratt for planning and setting up the event.

Kudos to Heather VanStratt! Heather VanStratt, Extended Education & Training’s new Grant Manager & Community Coordinator, oversaw her first NoMI Attainment Collaborative (NOMIAC) meeting on Friday, October 10 (the new collaborative’s fourth in-person meeting within 14 months). The in-person meeting convened at GROW Benzie, hosted by Josh Stoltz and Maggie Bacon (BEST Benzie). Individuals reviewed their organizations’ strategic plans to draw alignment with the NOMIAC’s initiative of Sixty by 30. This meeting was full of enthusiasm for the good work that these organizations are already doing in our communities, and for the potential of continued and elevated collaboration between organizations.

Kudos to the October Conference Collaborative Partners: Kristi Hallett, Tracy Welch, Megan Holtry, Maria Ulrich, Judy Albers, Chef Matt King, Chad Schenkelberger, Angie Adamick & the NMC Facilities Team, and the NMC Food Services Team!  Thank you to all of our NMC October Conference collaborative partners that helped us host such a great opportunity to learn and connect with each other. A huge thank you to the NMC faculty and staff who helped on the day of the conference. These folks schlepped supplies, greeted and directed crowds, facilitated presentations, and popped corn. Special thanks to the Swag Squad — Kristen, Mark, Ryan, and Lisa — for their championship slinging. The training paid off!

Kudos to Emily Crull! Thank you for all your work designing the beautiful NMC October Conference trifold schedule with a really tight turnaround time. Kudos!

Kudos to Carolyn Andrews!  Kudos to Carolyn Andrews, her NMC team, and all the community volunteers for another great opportunity for area middle school and high school students to attend the Building Tomorrow event. They showcased the amazing programs NMC has to offer!

Kudos to Denver Peters! Denver Peters, Director of Strategic Portfolio and Development, dove head first into the Blue Tech Challenge. The Blue Tech Challenge is a grant-funded imitative to support “BlueTech” and water-based technology start-up companies and ideas with the goal of having the companies relocate to Traverse City and the Freshwater Research and Innovation Center. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Denver had to lead the BlueTech Challenge finale at the Oceans Conference in Chicago, IL. The event went off without a hitch and the feedback has been very positive as Wave Lumina was named the winner, earning the prize money. Denver not only ran the finale, but also assisted the finalists with networking events, booth displays and follow-ups, all while representing NMC. Way to step up, Denver!

Kudos to Carolyn Andrews, Georgenia Hromada, Ryan Deering, Wayne Moody, Jeff Morse and Dan Simon for an amazing job on the two-day event, Building Tomorrow!!! Students had a great time and loved all of the hands-on activities! Everything flowed seamlessly! What a blast!

Kudos to Angela Zirotte! We would like to extend super Kudos to Angela Zirotte and her team for making the Beckett Building SPARKLE and SHINE after months and months of renovations. The building looked fantastic as 80+ guests arrived for the University Partner Open House on September 23. Thank you, Angela, for not only making Beckett shine, but also NMC! Your work is very much appreciated!

Kudos to Chad Schenkelberger and Claire Thelander! Chad and Claire have been wonderfully responsive to concerns about sustainable catering for Center for Instructional Excellence events. Two years ago they replaced plastic water bottles with a water dispenser and cups, and this year they swapped the paper boxes for paper bags. Finding an appropriate replacement for the boxes was a challenge, but they stuck with it. Thanks, Hawk Owl folks, for taking care of your colleagues and our environment!

Kudos to Betsy Boris!  Betsy was my professor in 1st semester and she is an amazing teacher and human being. I took a semester off after becoming a LPN, so I had trouble accessing ATI for my third semester in the ADN program. Betsy resolved the issue within 30 minutes of me emailing her. She goes above and beyond!

Kudos!

Kudos to Chris Hanna! Spent countless hours documenting our acquisition of the 3DCP and has provided some amazing footage. He has been a tremendous supporter and does everything with a great attitude.

Kudos to Benjamin Herman! Ben facilitated the rebranding of our Adjunct faculty office in Scholars Hall with such professionalism and in such an organized way. He had it painted immediately, and then provided ideas that would permit us to utilize our space most efficiently and effectively. He has been amazing to work with, always staying in touch and on top of things. I introduced my colleagues to our new space and they were totally blown away by its redesign and by how quickly and smoothly it all came together. Ben made the challenges look easy. Thanks, Ben! You are amazing!

Kudos (again) to Chris Hanna! Chris Hanna, in collaboration with Garrett Croon, produced exceptional new videos for Campus Safety, Title IX, and ‘See Something, Say Something.’ Chris’ in-house expertise as both a producer and videographer was instrumental in delivering this crucial information through concise and engaging content. His professional skill and talent are a significant asset to NMC.

Kudos to Ken Klumpp. Ken was responsible for orchestrating a gift for a state-of-the-art tire changer from Williams Chevrolet. This unit is valued at close to $30,000 dollars and through Ken’s community business relationships and his dedication to the program, we have a valuable state-of-the-art trainer for our students. Thank you, Ken and Williams Chevrolet.

Kudos to Amy Lucas! We want to recognize Amy for her outstanding contributions since joining NMC this past winter. She started during a challenging period when the department was short-staffed and immediately demonstrated her ability to learn quickly and help fill in wherever she was needed. Amy’s leadership of the EDGE program this summer exceeded expectations and we appreciate her dedication to our students’ success.

Kudos to Chris Hanna! Chris Hanna expertly produced the Campus Safety videos for the security department. Hanna has the ability to make the videos personal and engaging. Kindly join me in commending Chris Hanna for his exceptional efforts.

Kudos to Steve Kellman and the PRMC Dept! Kudos to Steve Kellman and the PRMC Team for the wonderful updates to the NMC website. The pages look fresh and inviting. This had to have been a huge time commitment and project to undergo. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
