A Contemporary Perspective: Heroes and Inspiration

A panel, led by local artist Eric Daigh, explores the heroes and inspiration of local contemporary artists featured in the Northwest Michigan Juried Exhibition. Participating artists will include Doug Hoagg, Fenner Darwin, Rufus Snoddy and Margie Guyot.

A Contemporary Perspective: Artist’s Intent
Tuesday, February 28, 12:00 – 1:30 pm
Explore the intent of local contemporary artists featured in the Northwest Michigan Juried Exhibition when they create a work of art. Does an artist’s intent impact the viewer?  Participating artists will include Dewey Blocksma, Angela Saxon, Bill Allen, Joan Richmond and Carol LaPorte.

A Contemporary Perspective: What’s it worth?
Tuesday, March 20, 12:00 – 1:30 pm
The mysterious and controversial subject of what art is worth, in monetary and cultural terms will be explored. How do artists and galleries set artwork prices?  How do we measure the importance of an active cultural community?  Participating artists will include Lindy Bishop, Rufus Snoddy, Troy DeShano, Terry Tarnow, and Ginnie Cappaert.
