Canticum Novum to hold auditions in mid August

TRAVERSE CITY — Experienced singers of college-age or older are invited to audition for Canticum Novum (kahn’-tee-koom  noh’-voom), a new choral ensemble being offered at Northwestern Michigan College. Canticum Novum has several performance cycles throughout the year, with an emphasis on performances in the Fall and late Spring. Performances with the TSO and a Michigan Tour are scheduled for 2015-2016. Auditions will be held on the NMC Campus Monday, August 17 and Wednesday, August 19. Please call 231-995-1700 to set up an appointment for an audition.

Big win for NMC Scholarship Open

TRAVERSE CITY — It was a win-win at the 35th Annual NMC Scholarship Open! The sold out event was held August 6th, 2015 at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

Golfer Jeff Rademacher won the hole in one contest sponsored by Fox Motors. He made the impressive shot on hole 17 of The Bear Golf Course. That course is ranked as one of the most challenging in the country by Golf Digest. The winning shot earned Rademacher a new Mercedes Benz C300 valued at $52,000.

Students at Northwestern Michigan College were the big winners of the day. Golfers and 130 sponsors raised a record amount of more than $120,000 for Honors, Presidential and Academic Area Scholarships.

The NMC Scholarship Open is a top-ranking tournament in Northern Michigan held each August. Throughout its history, the event has raised more than a million dollars to benefit scholarship students at Northwestern Michigan College.
