Any veteran who’s interested in writing, including both novices and experienced writers are welcome to drop in at any time.
Jay Ungar and Molly Mason with the Family Band to perform at the Dennos
The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College will present the Jay Ungar and Molly Mason Family Band on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 8:00 PM in the Milliken Auditorium. Personal Care Drive being held by Exceptional Child Development class
The Exceptional Child Development class will be advocating for children and families by holding a Personal Care Drive for the Father Fred Foundation on March 22 from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. The drive will take place at both Traverse City Walgreens at 3900 N. Free “Intern with the Government” workshop will be held on April 9
Northwestern Michigan College is hosting “Intern with the Government” on Wednesday, April 9. This free workshop is open to all college students in this region. Federal and state government agencies have partnered with the Michigan Career Educator and Employer Alliance, (MCEEA), to increase awareness and knowledge about government careers and develop potential employees that will be needed to fill a significant number of retirement vacancies in various government offices. This event will cover topics including the Federal Pathways program, career opportunities, application information, and more. Registration is not required. (more…)
Passport Student Lecture Series continues on March 20 with focus on Hong Kong
NMC Outreach Services’ Passport Student Lecture Series continues in March with international student Leung Hiu Wai who will speak to attendees about Hong Kong.

NMC Magazine call for submissions
Hero and villain. Soul and body. Imagination and reality. Dichotomy. The theme of the 2014 Spring edition with inspiration taken from graphic novels and comics. By one definition, dichotomy is a division into two opposite groups. We are seeking submissions from all students, faculty, and staff that explore the multiple definitions of dichotomy, analyze the presence of dichotomy in everyday life, and challenge the acceptance of stereotypical dichotomies. Graduating Spring or Summer 2014 with a degree or certificate?
If you plan on graduating, you should have already applied to graduate. If you have not, please do so right away!!! We are in the process of planning for commencement and the application needs to be received and an audit completed by March 14, 2014 for your name to be in the commencement program. NMC Aviation, American Eagle to sign pipeline agreement
NMC aviation students will get a guaranteed job interview with American Eagle and a $10,000 signing bonus upon hire under a pipeline agreement the airline and NMC are scheduled to sign on campus on Thursday, March 6. (more…)

Phi Theta Kappa presents the Women’s History Project
On March 15 in the Fine Arts Building, room 115, beginning at 1:00 p.m. the Phi Theta Kappa NMC chapter will present a free presentation called the Women’s History Project.
The purpose of the project is to preserve and recognize the contributions by women to their families and communities in Northwest Lower Michigan. Come try your hand at guessing what our historic women are fibbing about while they share their stories. Refreshments will be provided. (more…)

Josh grew up in Traverse City. He began college at NMC and transferred to Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids, MI) to earn a degree in Bible. He recently held a position at Christian University GlobalNet (part of RBC Ministries, makers of Our Daily Bread Devotionals) as the Admissions Coordinator and Student Services Administrator. He is married to his hometown sweetheart Diana, and has two beautiful children: Elli (age 2) and Carter (age 1). Campus SaVE Act
One year ago today President Obama signed into effect the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE) as a part of the strengthened and reauthorized Violence Against Women Act. The Campus SaVE Act seeks to address the sexual misconduct that can occur on college and university campuses and has a strong focus on promoting transparency, accountability, education, and community collaboration.
