The annual Dennos Museum Holiday Art Fair will be held Friday through Sunday, October 25–27, 2013, with a Thursday preview opening 5-8pm. Fine arts and crafts from 50 area artists, Christmas and Hanukkah gifts, and arts and crafts kits are just a few of the enticements for holiday shoppers. Hours will start with a preview opening Thursday, October 24, 5–8pm, and continue Friday and Saturday 10am–5pm, and Sunday 1–5pm.The Holiday Art Fair has become well known for featuring fine arts and crafts by Michigan artists. Fresh and exciting for the holiday shopping season, new and returning artists will bring original work in glass, sculpture, pottery, photography, printmaking, fiber, jewelry, and painting. Artists are encouraged to bring unique art in all price ranges, giving customers lots of choices for choosing art as a holiday gift.
In addition to the original works of art, the sale will feature a large selection of holiday ornaments from around the world, as well as Hanukkah and Christmas gifts. Items chosen for the show are handmade, unusual gifts; the kind that make museum stores a special place to shop.
There is no Museum admission charge for the three days of the sale. For more information you may call the Museum Store at 231-995-1586. The Dennos Museum Center is located at Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City.
EDUCATIONAL TOUR FUND RAFFLE
During the Holiday Art Fair, we will also hold our annual benefit raffle to help raise funds to offset the cost of school visits. Many schools in the region have had budget cuts, which prohibit them from visiting the museum. Schools will be able to apply for these funds to help offset the cost of buses or Museum admission. The participating artists have donated a piece of art for the raffle, which last year benefited over 2,000 students. Tickets are only sold at the Museum for $2 each or 6/$5.
