Kudos to Les Eckert, Patty Cron-Huhta, Joel Papcun, Dean Haselton, Kerry Fulcher:  GLCI has been instrumental in the continuation and success of Extended Education’s community culinary programming by graciously hosting our students at GLCI for the past year. In that time, we have filled 620 seats in adult culinary classes with another 140 anticipated by mid-December. College for Kids classes this summer were a HUGE success in the beautiful space of GLCI (filling 146 seats June-August). Many parents happily discovered Lobdell’s cafe while their kids took classes, and kids experienced delicious opportunities in the GLCI kitchens. Thank you GLCI!

Kudos to Carly McCall:  Carly has just led the NMC Foundation, and in many ways, the entire college to a new level of achievement. It was Carly’s determination, skill, dedication, and willingness to tackle any seemingly overwhelming task that led us to announce the $35 million comprehensive campaign goal for NMC. Working with Paris Morse, Carly input data into our system to inform our work and campaign plan. Carly acquired the tools to analyze the data and financial projections, input our data, and crunched and crunched and crunched the numbers to inform the decision! Carly and Lisa Cooper have facilitated monthly (or more) meetings for the past 3+ years to engage the committee that made this possible, and finally…Together with the team, most notably Lisa Cooper, Carly led the execution of 4 amazing, inspiring events to announce this campaign to the public and (re)position NMC as a philanthropic organization of choice in our community. This is tremendous work that will benefit the NMC Foundation, the college, our students, and our community for generations.

Kudos to Lisa Cooper:  Lisa has done tremendous work over the past three years to facilitate the work of our campaign steering committee to achieve the current status of $28+ million raised to date, and to prepare for the public launch of the $35 million campaign goal! It was Lisa, working with Carly McCall who organized every detail of the 4 amazing events to announce the campaign. I am especially grateful for Lisa’s attention to detail which helps to ensure that each of our events is extremely well organized, runs smoothly, and creates a wonderful experience for our guests, who are NMC’s most generous supporters. The memories created by the campaign launch events will create good will for NMC for a long time!

Kudos to Jennifer Hricik:  Though not at all in her job description, Jennifer stepped forward to help our team execute an amazing set of events to launch NMC’s comprehensive campaign to our community. Jennifer is a wonderful team member and is always willing to help. First, she was a host for one of our “off-site” locations for the campus announcement. But, the main focus of this “kudo” is taking on an incredible “thank you” project! Jennifer took it upon herself to organize personalized, handwritten thank you notes from students for each of our major donors which were then packaged and placed at the table for each of those individuals. During and after the event, we heard just how much that meant to the donors – it was truly impactful and connected them directly with the impact of their gifts. After that, Jennifer organized about 25 additional students to attend the event, often in uniform, to show their support for the philanthropic support of our donors. Students applauded donors during the event and as donors walked out of the ballroom… it was AMAZING! We couldn’t have pulled it off without Jennifer’s positive, can-do attitude and willingness to reach out to others to create this amazing experience. I know it is a moment our donors will remember for a very long time!

Kudos to Katharine Zurek:  Katharine has recently taken our annual giving work to a whole new level, and at the same time, worked hard to support the team to pull together the public launch of the Be What’s Possible campaign! First, Katharine is now managing one of our “campaign expansion groups” and has created excellent materials for their work to reach out to our broader community to raise support through the Be What’s Possible campaign. Co-Chair Bill Marsh could not say enough about how well prepared Katharine has been for each meeting which means a lot coming from Bill, as a well-organized go-getter himself! Having Katharine’s excellent work to support this group will create positive volunteer experiences and I know will lead to great success for NMC and our students. As part of the public launch of the campaign, Katharine organized and worked hand in hand with three student speakers who shared their stories during the campaign launch event. These moments in the program were absolutely the most powerful. Katharine worked hard to ensure the students were well prepared, comfortable, felt safe and respected, while also delivering powerful stories about their journey to and through NMC. Finally, Katharine also organized NMC’s largest fundraising mailing of all time! This includes writing copy, designing packages, purchasing a mailing list, using more internal data than ever before, working with vendors, preparing internal audiences for this major “blast” of direct mail, and more. Again, Katharine’s work will lead to ever-greater support for NMC!

Kudos to Paris Morse:  As the NMC Foundation has worked toward and now through the public launch of the Be What’s Possible Campaign, Paris is one member of the team who in some ways “built the plane” we’re flying. Paris led the development of our prospect management system to ensure data to plan fundraising work and make financial projections is in the system. She has created solid stewardship plans and processes to ensure donors are well stewarded, leading to greater gifts and confidence. Paris is also an exceptional writer with perhaps the strongest grounding in philanthropy I know of. It is Paris who sets the tone for much of our messaging, and ensures written materials communicate those messages effectively. Finally, Paris wrote the script for the gala program. The messaging was spot-on, and the whole evening was well designed to leave people feeling proud of NMC, and inspired to give more!

Kudos to Roy & Sodexo Food Services Staff: For contributing to the success of the NMC October Conference by creating and serving the delicious continental breakfast and lunch buffet that facilitated a collaborative and engaging event.

Kudos to Linda Glaesmer and the Custodial and Grounds staff: For their flexibility in coordinating, delivered and set up all the tables & chairs to create a welcoming lunch space for the NMC October Conference. We appreciated their assistance in moving the picnic tables into the sunshine close to the building to create additional lunch space for our employees. Thank you!

Kudos to Alice Sluss: For all of her time and effort supporting the NMC October Conference. Alice’s great organizational and administrative skills contributed to the success of the event!

Kudos to Jen Strauss: For her fabulous keynote address at the NMC October Conference. Her talk ignited the room with energy and engaged us in the conceptual ideas of storytelling. Her keynote inspired us to continue to build on and tell both our individual and collective NMC stories.
