american flagOn Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2015, NMC will pay tribute to enrolled and employed veterans with the following programming:

  • 8:30-9:15 a.m. – Veteran’s Breakfast- Free breakfast for veterans in NMC’s Hawk Owl Cafe in West Hall
  • 9:20 a.m. – Walk of Honor– From West Hall to the flagpoles west of the Tanis Building, led by the Traverse City Central Drumline. We are asking the NMC community of students, faculty and staff to please come out at 9:10 a.m. and line up along the sidewalk leading to the flagpoles in honor of the veterans.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Flag Raising Ceremony– Conducted by the VFW with Traverse City Central High School Band performing the Star Spangled Banner.
  • 10:00 a.m.- Noon – Coffee and cake in honor of the veterans for the entire campus community in West Hall.

As faculty members, please encourage and allow any veterans in your classes to attend the breakfast planned for 8:30 a.m. for them as well as the Walk of Honor and flag raising ceremony.

Also, please consider coming out as a class/department at 9:10 a.m. to line the sidewalk for the Walk of Honor. Imagine the feelings of support, connection and of belonging by the veterans from our campus community upon seeing us all lined up in honor and support of them! Let’s get the sidewalk packed!
