Join our community on the evening of World Polio Day at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, at the State Theater, for a special viewing of the award-winning documentary “The Shot Felt ‘Round the World.” Admission is FREE thanks to the sponsorship by three Traverse City Rotary Clubs and anyone with an interest in contemporary global health issues, international relations, or health careers is encouraged to attend. TRAVERSE CITY — Northwestern Michigan College’s Concert Band, under the direction of Patricia J. Brumbaugh, will perform its first concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 25 in Milliken Auditorium.
The program includes a wide range of selections, from fun marches, to beautiful melodies to toe-tapping folk songs. General admission tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors (ages 62 and older) and children (ages 12 and younger). Admission for NMC students with student ID is free. The NMC Concert Band was formed in 1973 and now totals more than 50 members. It is comprised of young, energetic high school and college students learning side-by-side with experienced adults. The band is a member of the Association of Concert Bands. Rehearsals are weekly throughout the academic year, with performances held primarily at Milliken Auditorium.
