The NMC Student Veterans of America group will host a Chili Cook Off on February 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Welcome Center of the Health Science Building. A $1 donation will get you three samples and for just $3 you can buy a bowl. Come vote for your favorite chili and help support the Student Veterans group!

Over time, chronic sleep deprivation may lead to an array of serious medical conditions including obesity, diabetes, heart disease and even early mortality. While sleep requirements vary by individual, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke reports that most adults need seven to eight hours a night. Though, some people may need as few as 5 hours per night and others may need up to nine or ten hours of sleep each day for proper functioning.
Studies show that people who get the appropriate amount of sleep on a regular basis tend to live longer, healthier lives than those who sleep too few or even too many hours each night. This underscores the importance of making sleep a top priority. (more…)

For all faculty and staff: There will be two Critical Incident Management training sessions available on Feb 6. College faculty and staff are paramount to the protection of our students in a crisis, being the first line of defense. Faculty and staff will receive instruction in immediate reaction to responses of violence, school lock-downs, bomb threats, shelter-in-place to minimize hazardous material incidents, and hostage survival. These trainings include school security relating to visitor identification, faculty and staff identification and the need for control of school access through a single point of entry. (more…)

The Eye Med coverage provides different levels of coverage for progressive and anti-reflective lenses. The different Tiers are related to the specific brand of the product. If you are interested in the full list for each Tier please contact Hollie DeWalt in HR, 995-1350. The list will be made available on the employee web site as well.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will provide coverage for 24 chiropractic visits each calendar year. If your provider tells you that they see only 12 visits, you should let them know that NMC provided a modification from 12 to 24 visits. If they do not find the benefit at 24 visits, please contact Hollie DeWalt in HR, 995-1350, for assistance. (more…)
