Michael was born and raised in central Illinois, where he met his wife, Rita. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Music from SIU-Carbondale, Michael continued in the field of education by earning Master’s degrees in both Music Education and Educational Administration.  His previous experience includes several years in both secondary and post-secondary levels in the fields of Music, Guidance & Counseling, Administration, and as Registrar.  Michael enjoys camping, hunting, scuba diving, designing and installing ceramic tile & related products, Forex currency exchange trading, researching the Hebraic roots of Christianity, and trains.  He also is a former member and guest conductor with the Encore Society of Music, locally.  Michael and Rita have three grown children. Hollie is originally from Pennsylvania, but has lived in Traverse City for about 10 years.  She holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from Central Michigan University. Hollie was previously employed by Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging as the Deputy Director, and also worked for Conflict Resolution Services, an organization providing an array of mediation services.  She just celebrated 23 years of marriage to her husband Pat, and they have two teenage sons.  Hollie enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, boating, camping, and traveling.  She is also a board member for the Women’s Resources Center, where she volunteers some of her time and expertise. Tracie has lived in Northern Michigan her entire life.  She attended NMC, earning an Associates in Business Management and an Associates in Accounting. Tracie was a general manger (GM) at her previous job for almost 16 years. She joined the NMC family last July in the Student Financial Services Office before transitioning to her current position as Accounting Assistant.  Tracie has two children Ellie, 9 and Max, 5.  They love hitting the pool, biking, going to the movies and bowling.

Amy grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and attended Aquinas College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Ceramics and Art History. She taught ceramics classes through East Lansing Parks and Recreation for two years prior to completing her M. Ed. from Grand Valley State University.  Before coming to NMC Amy worked as an Academic Advisor for the College of Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Amy’s hobbies include pottery, painting, reading and hiking. Josh grew up in Traverse City. He began college at NMC and transferred to Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids, MI) to earn a degree in Bible. He recently held a position at Christian University GlobalNet (part of RBC Ministries, makers of Our Daily Bread Devotionals) as the Admissions Coordinator and Student Services Administrator. He is married to his hometown sweetheart Diana, and has two beautiful children: Elli (age 2) and Carter (age 1). Josh loves to snowshoe, hike/backpack and fight human trafficking (he currently helps with his sister-in-law’s cupcake business- New Creation Cupcake Co.) (more…)

Courtney grew up in Middletown, Ohio. She spent two summers abroad studying art history in Florence, Italy and graduated from Miami University (Ohio). After graduation, she spent several years in the western US, first living as a ski bum and outdoor enthusiast in Colorado and then Oregon. Courtney arrived in Northern Michigan in 2010 and enjoys snowshoeing with her border collie and boyfriend, cooking and volunteering.

Anndrea grew up in Warren, MI and went to college at Rochester College for her undergraduate degree and graduated from Oakland University with a Master’s in Counseling and specialized in Wellness Counseling. Anndrea moved to Traverse City and worked as a Crisis Couselor at Third Level Crisis Center for the past two years. She is also a Certified Yoga Teacher. Anndrea loves reading about health and wellness, spending time at the beach with her husband Steven and crafting.

Minor-Ben - MINORBBen Minor joined the NMC staff as Maritime Engineering Instructor on February 5, 2014. He can be reached at 995-1301 or bminor@nmc.edu.

Ben grew up in Newport, Oregon and graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in Sociology. After graduating from the U of O he lived in Park City UT for eight years where he was a self proclaimed “ski bum” and ski lift technician. In 2003 Ben moved to Traverse City to attend the Great Lakes Maritime Academy. Since graduating in 2006, he has been sailing on a variety of ocean going ships. This last January Ben earned his Chief Engineers License.

His wife Genevieve is the Media Specialist (librarian) at West Senior High, and they have two children: Charlie 6, and Matthew 4.  Ben says they are all very excited for him to be home more with his new position. (more…)
