Kudos to the STT Security Team. Kindly thank the STT Campus Security/Safety Team for closing the parking lots at the Hagerty Center during the 2025 Air Show and Fireworks, allowing NMC employees a place to park and view the events. Their efforts deserve our attention and gratitude.
Kudos to Danielle Quinlan. Danielle Quinlan, Extended Education & Training’s Office Manager, has completed the LERN Certified Operations Manager program. According to LERN (Learning Resources Network), “No longer can everyone do everything, and your lifelong learning program needs people dedicated to day-to-day operations so your revenue generators can do their jobs! Efficient and effective operations can help generate an overall staff productivity increase of 25 percent or more.” Danielle has already begun increasing efficiencies within our office processes and roles. Additionally, Danielle has created better methods for customer support with registration, improved the student experience, and increased instructor support, along with the creation of an instructor handbook. Danielle continues to improve our operations with this certification in her toolbox.
Kudos to Augusta Kummer. We extend a huge thank you to Augusta for her incredible support at the 3DCP Ribbon Cutting event. She enthusiastically jumped in, greeting attendees, holding the ribbon, and assisting with setup and take down. Her warm and welcoming demeanor was truly appreciated by everyone.
Kudos to Ben Herman, Devin Hill, Ryan Deering, Carolyn Andrews, Chris Hanna, Rachel Urkowitz, Dan Goodchild, and Patrick Quinlan. The recent 3D Concrete Printer ribbon cutting event was a testament to incredible collaboration by this group. The amount of behind-the-scenes work put in was extraordinary—and warm and messy, but they truly stepped up as a team to make it a resounding success. Thank you!

Kudos to Bridget Munroe. Bridget has led a group of staff to boost morale and community in the Osterlin Building for two years. Bridget makes sure that birthdays are celebrated and that regrets are acknowledged to all. She also plans outings for staff to get together after hours. We appreciate at her willingness to volunteer her time to make our days brighter.

Kudos to Corbin Thompson, Brooklynn Golnick, Kaitlyn DeBoer, Denny Nguyen, Bob Bugai and John Burris. Corbin, Brooklynn, Kaitlyn, Denny, Bob and John were instrumental in the setup and take down of all the equipment needed for the Juneteenth Celebration. Without their commitment and assistance, the event would not have been as successful as it was.
Kudos to Dylan Schaub, Chris Hanna and Kyle Morrison. The wizards at EMT save the day again! They have assembled a hardware-based solution that allows our Engine simulator (physically located in GL-214) to be controlled from and displayed in GL-111, greatly increasing its utility as a teaching tool while avoiding the need for an expensive additional computer license.

Kudos to our Enrollment Services Directors, Lisa vonReichbauer, Jim Patterson, Alyssa Irani and Lisa Eiden. The Directors in Enrollment Services are team players! They listened to staff’s request at our ES Department retreat, set expectations/goals for the department and are following though! Go team!!
Kudos to Ben Herman and Facilities. Ben and the entire Facilities team helped organize and execute the emptying and freshening up of faculty offices in Scholars Hall in anticipation of welcoming Business faculty and staff to the building. With Beckett undergoing similar changes, it became necessary to relocate Business, Social Science, and Communications faculty, especially moving instructors out of the SH115 pod and into their new offices. Ben was quick to answer questions, provide needed moving supplies like boxes and solve any problems that developed during the painting, refurbishing and moving process. He coordinated with other NMC staff to facilitate the moving of computers and telephones, and he made sure that everything was clearly and promptly communicated to all those involved. Such a labor-intensive and detailed task went smoothly with the guidance of Ben and the Facilities team.
Kudos to Jim Gullen. Jim was instrumental in helping to provide research and planning in our successful effort to secure our recent $120,000 workforce development contract with MI Works.

Kudos to Danielle Quinlan. Danielle Quinlan coordinated and managed Extended Education’s first Campus Day since 2019. This event falls under “Community Engagement” in our current strategic plan. On May 9, 2025 Campus Day returned to the main Front Street Campus. Over $13K in net revenue (income minus direct expenses) was realized. The team welcomed 300+ participants, instructors, and volunteers. The day consisted of 40+ learning sessions from Extended Education offerings, plus community offerings such as Old Town Playhouse, BATA, city government, and the NMC Foundation. Thank you, Danielle, for making this event a huge success!
Kudos to our Grounds Crew. The grounds crew did an amazing job making sure that Front St. campus looked amazing for Campus Day on Friday, May 9th. They also set up picnic tables to ensure our attendees had outdoor seating at lunch time. Thank you, grounds team – we appreciate you!
Kudos to Garrett Croon & The Security Team. Garrett and his team facilitated all aspects of parking and security for Campus Day. In addition to providing assistance before the event began, they also stepped up to help secure an area for our BATA shuttle and assisted our guests who needed handicapped parking. You’re the best! Thank you for your support and collaboration.
Kudos to Kyle Morrison, Chris Hanna, and Dylan Schaub. The EdTech team assisted in all technical needs during our May 9th Campus Day event. They responded quickly to tech issues and walked instructors who were new to our campus through all technical challenges. And the best part – they did it collaboratively – it’s a pleasure working with you!
Kudos to Angie Adamick. Angie and her custodial team were instrumental in making sure campus looked great for Campus Day on May 9th. In addition to real-time sweeping and mopping of the floors in the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center, one of our participants wrote in his evaluation survey, “FYI, the cleanest bathrooms and classrooms I have ever seen. Your cleaning crew is excellent!”
Kudos to our Custodial, Grounds, and Maintenance departments, and Cathy Brown. The entire facilities department worked together to transform a storage closet in the Extended Education suite into an office for a new full-time hire. By utilizing the new work order system, we were able to have shelving removed, carpet replaced, walls painted, and furniture delivered and assembled in a few short weeks. The process was smooth and easy! Thank you!
Kudos to Lil Anderson, Marcus Bennett, Katy Knight, Kristi Hallett, Facilities Team, Educational Technology, Emily Crull, and more! I want to give a huge kudos to the folks who made our Pride Family Field Day with Up North Pride a success! It was a beautiful, sunny day filled with so much joy and fun, and it would not have been possible without everyone’s help!
Special thanks to Lil Anderson for jumping in and coordinating many of the moving parts, to Marcus Bennett and Campus Life for lending games and equipment, to Emily Crull and Katy Knight for their help with getting the word out to our communities, and to Kristi Hallett, the Facilities and Educational Technology teams for helping make sure we had the space set up the way we needed!
Thanks also to the folks who were there as vendors, everyone who volunteered to help during the event, and anyone who came out to enjoy a little fun in the sun with us! Your participation always helps make events like ours extra special!
