Employee Recognition
Kudos:
Recently we received word that The State Of Michigan was having trouble with the new WiFi system on board the ship during its cruise. It was not able to connect to the Internet while underway. This access is essential and required by the federal government. Steve drove to Port Huron on Saturday to meet the ship when it docked so he could fix the problems.
Benefits Corner
Have you scheduled your annual physical yet?
If you are on NMC’s health insurance, did you know you do not have to wait 12 months to schedule your next preventive annual physical? Our self-funded plan language allows you to have a physical within each calendar year, but it does not state that you must wait 12 months. This would be especially helpful for members who have been on a cycle at the end of the year, because you can move your physical up to be sure that you can get it done in 2014.
Always remember that NMC has its own self-funded medical plan, and Priority Health simply administers it for us. Many local providers are familiar with Priority plans and assume that we are on one of those plans, but you should always have them check our plan specifically for coverage. Here are a couple things to do when you have your physical to assure that it is billed as preventive, which is covered for the most part at 100% on NMC’s plan:
- When you set up the appointment for your annual exam, be sure to emphasize that the appointment is preventive.
- Remind the physician’s office again when you check out from the appointment and emphasize that the procedure(s) must be coded as preventive when submitting the claim to Priority Health.
For more information on preventive guidelines, visit the Priority Health web page.
And here’s a page on preventive vs. diagnostic services, which will help you determine how your visit will be billed.
If you have questions on this or other NMC benefits, feel free to contact HR at 995-1350 or 995-1362.
