50 Years Ago:
“In response to student requests and community interest,” NMC announced it will add dental office assistant training to its curriculum, beginning in the fall of 1964.
25 Years Ago:
On Sunday, April 23, 1989, “some 50 demonstrators tied red ribbons around hundreds of trees that will be destroyed if the Northwestern Michigan College board of Trustees approve the site plan for the museum.” (see photo below)
There was also talk in the Record-Eagle that NMC was about to purchase a vacant administration building and a nearby industrial building along Boardman Lake from the Sara Lee Baking Co.
10 Years Ago:
First doctoral program offered at the University Center – a Doctor of Business Administration degree administered through Lawrence Technical University.
