“The Future of Turkey” is the topic of the next International Affairs Forum lecture, set for 6 p.m. March 15 in Milliken Auditorium.

Speaker Dr. Zeynep Devrim Gürsel, a native of Turkey, is a cultural anthropologist who has recently completed postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan. She is the director and co-producer of the film, Coffee Futures. She received her Ph.D. in anthropology with a designated emphasis in film studies from the University of California, Berkeley.  She is currently completing a manuscript, Image Brokers, on the production, distribution, and circulation of international news images.

She will address what it means to be Turkish today, Turkey’s role in the Middle East, and whether secularism is losing out to Islamists in Turkey.

The  program begins with a reception in the Sculpture Court of the Dennos Museum Center at 5:15 p.m. and is followed at 6 p.m. by the lecture and a discussion period in Milliken Auditorium.
