The Zonta Club of Traverse City and Northwestern Michigan College are sponsoring a special dessert reception for veterans and military members, Friday, November 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the annual Festival of Trees. at NMC’s Hagerty Conference Center, 715 East Front Street in Traverse City.

The reception includes dessert and a cash bar, and is free for all veterans, military members and a guest. Tickets are available for all others for $10. The program will feature an Honor Guard, a performance of the National Anthem, CDR Sean M. Cross, Commanding Officer of the United States Coast Guard, Air Station Traverse City and honored guest Linda Fletcher, director of the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Recovery Program.  Fletcher is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the US Army Nurse Corps.  Veterans and military passes are available by calling (231) 947-2772.

Zonta’s Festival of Trees runs from Thursday November 7 through November 10 at the Hagerty Center.  General admission hours are:

  • Thursday, November 7, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, November 8, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (veterans and military reception 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Saturday, November 9, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The four-day event raises funds to enable Zonta’s philanthropic efforts in the community.  Tickets are $7.50, $4.00 for students and pre-schoolers are free.  More information and tickets are available at www.zontatc.org.
