Kudos to Sarah Kuhlman, Justen Ziegler, and Keith Overbaugh from NMC who were among those who answered our call for installation assistance with Birds of Paradise from National Geographic Society. They did great work and impressed the staff from the NGS working on the installation. We appreciate their contribution to making the exhibition installation on time for the opening reception on June 15. Come see their work in its final operation from now through Sept 22.
John Pahl is helping his English 221 and 222 students from this past academic year, as well as any and all interested students, participate in an optional summer creative writing group. John is leading the group on his own time. He’s even making food for the meetings! As per his usual teaching excellence, he’s providing varied learning exercises, feedback on student work and group facilitation. This is hardly the dreaded summer school of the past! John’s summer writing group is fun and meaningful. His leadership is providing a way to build upon student interest in creative writing.
Kudos to NMC Grounds and Facilities staff and the Aviation Department for outstanding customer service. NMC’s Admissions has purchased a new software product that will make it possible to post an interactive walking tour of the college campus on NMC’s website. The day that the photographer and crew arrived, bad weather was moving in, so there was a rush to get the photos taken while the sun was shining. The Grounds crew and Facilities staff were very flexible and accommodating in getting all of the areas that were to be a part of the video in pristine shape in a very tight turnaround time. This included a Dennos Museum Exhibit. In addition, the Aviation Department provided airplane rides to the photographers allowing them to include aerial shots in their work. The visitors were not only impressed by the beauty of our campus, but also the hospitality and cooperation of NMC’s staff.
