Northwestern Michigan College invites nominations from the community for its 2012 Outstanding Alumnus Award. This honorary award was established in 1988 to recognize NMC alumni who are noteworthy for one or more of the following:

  • Continued donation of time, talent, resources and enthusiasm on behalf of the college
  • Significant professional achievements
  • Exemplary leadership in community and professional activities

Nomination forms are available online and must be submitted by Feb. 29.  A committee of alumni representatives reviews the nominations in March, making a final recommendation to the NMC President in early April. The recipient is officially introduced at NMC’s commencement ceremony, to be held May 5. A recognition dinner is held at a later date.

The 2011 award was presented to two winners: breast cancer advocate and activist Ruth Ann LaMott and artist Glenn Wolff, both of Traverse City. Other past winners include local photographer and Traverse City Film Festival co-founder John Robert Williams (2007) and former state Sen. Jason Allen (2003).
