Joining MeLCat, Michigan’s library resource sharing system, gives the NMC community access to the collections of 400 Michigan libraries.
MeLCat allows NMC library patrons to easily search and request materials from most of Michigan’s major universities and public libraries. This service supplements our existing country-wide interlibrary loan program (OCLC’s Worldcat), but with a few distinctions:
- MeLCat allows users to search the state-wide catalog and place requests on their own.
- MeLCat requests will arrive more quickly than materials requested from OCLC’s Worldcat.
- OCLC’s WorldCat is still your source for article requests.
- Our patrons will also be able to use their Osterlin library card to check out materials in person at MeLCat visiting patron participating libraries.
- MeLCat is offered free of charge to all library patrons!
