We’re looking for insights, new understanding, lessons learned from successes and failures. Our planning process calls for an end-of-year review both at the department and individual levels. Many of us will be having meetings with supervisors to review our FY’12 work and discuss goals for next year which will ensure that we achieve our departmental and ultimately college-wide plans. We’ve asked Leadership Group to lead their departments in an end-of-year review of their departmental operational plan. As part of these reviews, ORPE is asking that you identify “lessons learned” over the prior year.

So what are lessons learned? They can be anything from a process insight to a better understanding of student needs to an insight about resources to additional feedback on the planning process. If you feel it’s noteworthy, send it in. I’d rather have too many than too few lessons learned to share!

This feedback will become input into Grasping the Situation for the next planning cycle which begins this summer as ORPE prepares for the Strategy Retreat. A form is available on the intranet to make sending in your lessons learned an easy process. You can send them in as individuals and/or as departments…just send them in! Please find the form here and
send in your lessons learned by June 27. Questions? Contact Karen Ruedinger at 5-1032 or kruedinger@nmc.edu.
