The NMC Board of Trustees met for the regularly scheduled meeting February 22, 2016 at the Oleson Center.

Trustees heard an update on the new Alumni Relations Program from director Betsy Coffia.

The board heard regular reports on enrollment, financials, the NMC Foundation, and legislative issues.

The following people spoke during public input:

  • Janet Lively on faculty concern and the future of the college
  • Deirdre Mahoney on faculty salaries
  • Steve Drake on shared governance
  • Jessica Dewitt on face to face learning
  • Dr. Michael Emerson on the removal of regular faculty board reports
  • Jerry Dobek on presidential and faculty compensation
  • Mella McCormick on faculty compensation and respect
  • Nancy Gray on faculty requests and union representation
  • Mike Skarupinski on the MEA and free speech
  • Mike Torre on faculty academic chairs and collaboration
  • Ryan Nugent on LEAN manufacturing approaches
  • Lisa Blackford on the faculty voice at the college
  • Brandon Everest on faculty input and support
  • Deb Pharo on faculty voice and union negotiations
  • Tony Jenkins on continuous quality improvement at NMC and culture
  • Barbara Smith on her support for faculty

The board approved minutes from the January board meeting and the retreat.

The board approved the following items:

  • Proclaiming April 2016 as Social Host Responsibility Month
  • A new certificate of achievement Level II in accounting
  • A firewall replacement system with Secant Technologies
  • An owner’s representative contract with Plante Moran CRESA for construction projects

 

The board went into closed session to discuss collective bargaining efforts then returned to open session to conclude the meeting.
