Kudos to the following people and departments!

Kudos to Scott Herzberg-  After giving a tour to a group of Central Lake students, the Admissions Office received this outstanding review:

“Best tour ever! Scott truly went above and beyond with the tour and the kids loved the freebies. I liked how he gave them some info and then we walked a bit and stopped (where he gave more info). This was just enough and they really got to see what campus life is like.

I have always received good feedback from our kids on the NMC trip but this year kids were really excited about attending NMC and the feedback was GREAT. And I appreciate that Scott pointed out all the supports available which really resonated with our kids. College is a scary concept for many….this really made college seem like a doable option for our kids. The breakout sessions were awesome as well and I appreciated Scott helping our bus driver find all the stops! Very impressive …..we will definitely be back next year! Thanks.”

Kudos to Esther Haven-  for being aware of workplace and technology security. She received a strange call from someone claiming to be NMC’s printer and copier toner vendor, asking her to make changes to an order that we never placed. According to Esther, having recently completed the mandatory “Securing The Human” (https://sso.securingthehuman.org/nmc) IT security training, she was more suspicious than she might normally have b een. In order to validate the caller’s claims, she requested the caller’s contact information. She then hung up and contacted the company who we purchase toner from, and they informed her that this is a common type of phishing scam. Due to Esther’s vigilance, she did not fall victim to the attempted scam and then took it a step further by sending an email warning to several other groups of people at NMC who would most likely be potential recipients of the same type of phone call. Well done, Esther.

Kudos to Renee Jacobson and Deb Glauch-  Thank you to Deb and Renee for their willingness to take extra steps as they assist students with medical requirements. Nursing students are required to turn in multiple immunization records, and collecting these documents while obtaining the proper tests and vaccinations can be a daunting task. Students often struggle to schedule all necessary medical appointments in a timely manner. NMC Health Services helps students to decipher medical recommendations and turn in completed documents on time. It is clear that Deb and Renee truly care about our students and their well-being. This is a great asset to have on campus.
