Last month, the Wellness Committee survey sent to NMC regular employees on wellness; following are two questions we asked, along with the responses:

1. Have you recently given thought to making lifestyle changes that would result in better health (such as smoking cessation, better eating habits, increased physical activity)?

Yes 82%
No 18%

2. If yes, how far did you get in making lifestyle changes for better health?

I thought about making a change but went no further. 14%
I started to make changes but they didn’t last for more than a week. 16%
I made changes that lasted for a few months. 17%
I made lifestyle changes that I’m still following. 52%

KUDOS to the 52% who said they have made lasting lifestyle changes! The Wellness Committee wants to help the remaining 48% achieve their goal!

NMC counselor Joseph Sanok will facilitate an interactive learning session on how to make lasting changes this year. Food, diet, exercise, or other lifestyle changes will be discussed. This is the first of an ongoing series by multiple presenters to meet your wellness needs as expressed on the Wellness Survey.

Joseph Sanok is also owner of Mental Wellness Counseling and is a frequent speaker about a variety of psychological issues. He has Master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology and Community Counseling from Western Michigan University. As well, he is no stranger to making goals in the New Year as he successfully formed the habit of flossing his teeth in 2009.
