Dori Creighton, Accounting Assistant, has been selected as the NMC Employee of the Semester for summer 2015.
Dori has displayed the values of Northwestern Michigan College as described below.
Learning is at the center; improves the learning experience through innovation, agility and thoughtful risk taking: For the numerous students that we have had as student employees, Dori has been extremely patient and thorough with her teaching them Business Office tasks. Dori is always thinking of new, better ways to perform her tasks as well as other finance related tasks. She is not at all afraid to learn something new and does so quite often.
Actions governed by the highest degree of ethics, integrity, and personal responsibility: This may be the easiest question for me to answer regarding Dori. Her ethics and integrity are without question. Everyone can see by the way she conducts herself how ethical she is and her personal integrity, it shines through. She is a very conscientious NMC employees, always looking out for NMC’s best interest. Dori’s ethics, integrity and personal responsibility are very well respected.
Exhibits a learning focus, both as a learner and an educator: We have had many bank system changeovers during Dori’s tenure at NMC and she learns them all quickly, thoroughly and then helps others learn the system. Her way of explaining things makes it very easy to understand for others. She is always so open to anything, you can take any issue.
Practices responsible stewardship for the human, physical, and financial resources: There is no question that the finance area of NMC is better off with Dori as a part of the team. She is also so conscientious to make sure the all of banking is done accurately and timely. She also works with non-student accounts receivable and that is always in great shape. She is also heavily involved in the foundation’s finance team. She cares so much about NMC, the foundation and other people that it shows in her disposition. 4 Office of Human Resources.
Exceeds expectations for quality and service: Dori work is always done timely and accurately, even though she has a very heavy workload. Her customer service skills are excellent. Dori’s productivity output is extremely high. Her quality is exceptional and no one at the college has better customer service skills than Dori.
Values all people and invests in their personal and professional growth: It is easy to tell how much Dori cares about others, both personally and professionally. She has established many friendships at the college and she is always looking out for others’ wellbeing. Dori always has a smile on her face and in her voice. She is very encouraging of others professional pursuits and is an excellent active listener. Dori treats everyone with the utmost respect. Everyone loves to work with Dori!
Exhibits foresight, and collaborates with others: As the cash accounting assistant, Dori actively and enthusiastically works with numerous NMC departments as well as outside entities such as Fifth Third Bank regularly. Everyone loves working with Dori as she has such compassion and empathy for others. She willingly shares information and solves not only her own problems, but other’s problems as well. She makes everyone feel very comfortable and relaxed. She has an extremely heavy workload, yet plans ahead to ensure all deadlines are met.
For being selected as the Employee of the Semester, Dori will receive a framed certificate acknowledging her selection, a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant, and an additional paid day off.
