On Saturday, April 11, NMC’s Professional Communications class will host The Big Little Hero Race on the college’s main campus. All proceeds will go directly to Northern Michigan’s Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Community members of all ages are invited to dress up as their favorite superhero and run for a good cause throughout Traverse City’s beautiful Old Mission Peninsula.

The Hero Race includes:
- Free, untimed one mile fun run/walk starting at 9 a.m.
- Timed 5k starting at 9:30 a.m.
- Timed 10k starting at 9:30 a.m.
If you choose to dress up in a costume you could wine prizes! The prizes for best costume are as follows:
- Best dressed boy and girl – $70 towards College For Kids Class plus a superhero book.
- Best dressed female – portrait session with Beth Price Photography.
- Best Dressed male – dinner at Poppycock’s and movie at the State for two.
- Best dressed dog- a $50 gift basket, full of goodies.
Some of the prizes for fastest runners include:
- Wine tasting for four at Chateau Chantal
- Overnight at the Grand Traverse Resort
- M22 clothes
- Pies, pizzas, art and more!
All kids who come to the fun run at 9 a.m. will receive a free cape courtesy of our very own College For Kids! We hope to see you there!
