Here is an informal account of the Northwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees meeting, Monday, February 23, 2015.

Here is an overview of the February 23rd 2015 NMC Board of Trustees meeting.

Board Chair Doug Bishop, and Trustees Cheryl Gore-Follette Bob Brick were absent.

Leann Baumeler gave a presentation on all of the disability services offered at NMC.

Director of Admissions, Cathryn Claerhout gave the enrollment report. She mentioned an  increase in dual enrollment and promoted the work of shared employees with TCAPS.

Vice President for Finance and Administration, Vicki Cook gave the financial report from January 2015 which showed the college is below budget by 4-5%.

Vice President for Life long and Professional Learning, Marguerite Cotto reported Compensation and Classification work is seeing small, steady improvements for existing phases.

A review from the board’s Policy Committee focused on a concise draft policy on electronic communication.

Foundation Director Rebecca Teahen reported to the board that they are looking forward to outstanding alumni award, Tasters’ Guild, and new Director of Development.

The legislative issues report from President Timothy J. Nelson gave updates on concurrent enrollment, MI New Job Training Act and criteria for performance funding.

The President’s report, mentioned an Open Meetings Act refresher course in mid-March for anyone who wants to attend. He also gave an update on the AQIP Strategy Forum to focus on internal communication.

The Board of Trustees voted to approve the consent and action items.
