CCSTEP Community Open House to be held Oct. 9

The Community College Skilled Trades Equipment Program invites the public to join them for a community open house on October 9 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Aero Park Campus, Parsons-Stulen Building at 2600 Aero Park Drive, Traverse City. The open house will feature projects such as:

  • Marine Technology Lab & ROV
  • Advanced Electronics Lab
  • Unmanned Aerial Systems Platforms
  • Computer Technology Systems
  • Nursing Simulation Equipment

Join us for an opportunity to tour some of the most sophisticated technology in the country. This event will celebrate the state of Michigan’s recognition of NMC as a leader in talent development.

Grand Traverse region takes part in global drawing celebration

The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College, in partnership with many educational organizations and businesses throughout the region, presents The Big Draw – Grand Traverse. This series of events in October 2015 will showcase the regional arts scene and celebrate drawing for all ages and abilities. This year’s theme, Every Drawing Tells a Story, will provide a chance to highlight local illustrators and storytellers along with drawing. (more…)

Transfer Fair

TRAVERSE CITY — More than  30 university representatives will be on NMC’s campus from 10 a.m. to 2  p.m. October 13 to talk with students, staff and faculty about their programs and the transfer process. The university representatives will be located in the lobby of the Science/Math Building  and in West Hall.

Students have the opportunity to discuss transfer requirements and get information on degrees available at a variety of schools without having to travel to each university. Bring questions and explore your options!

Celebrating NMC in Pictures – the first 25 Years

Celebrating NMC in Pictures illustrationTRAVERSE CITY — Did you study or work at Northwestern Michigan College between 1951 and 1976?

You are invited to celebrate the first 25 years of the College’s history in photos and to help build the Osterlin Library Archives’ knowledge of memorabilia from this period at an Open House Sunday, Oct. 25 at the NMC Osterlin Library. This event is hosted by the NMC Alumni Relations program at the Foundation.

The Open House will be from 1 to 4 p.m., with light refreshments, historic video viewings and a special presentation at 2 p.m. This will include time for you to reconnect with former classmates and professors, and to share their NMC memories with the group.

Photos from the first 25 years that are in need of identification will be on hand for you to review and add your first-hand knowledge to the Archives.

Please also consider bringing NMC photos you would like to donate to the Archives.

Community College Week and NISOD are proud to announce the opening of the 2016 Scott Wright Student Essay Contest. Three winning student authors will each receive a $1,000 check!

Students at NISOD member colleges are invited to describe a faculty member, staff member, or administrator who encouraged him or her to reach a goal. The faculty members, staff members, or administrators featured in the winning essays will also receive a $1,000 check.
