If you plan on graduating, you should have already applied to graduate.  If you have not, please do so right away!!!  We are in the process of planning for commencement and the application needs to be received and an audit completed by March 14, 2014 for your name to be in the commencement program.  You can print off the application, complete and submit to the Records & Registration Office (fax – 995-1956).  The form can be found here! Phi Theta Kappa presents the Women’s History Project

womenshistorypicOn March 15 in the Fine Arts Building, room 115, beginning at 1:00 p.m. the Phi Theta Kappa NMC chapter will present a free presentation called the Women’s History Project.

The purpose of the project is to preserve and recognize the contributions by women to their families and communities in Northwest Lower Michigan. Come try your hand at guessing what our historic women are fibbing about while they share their stories. Refreshments will be provided. (more…)

National Student Nursing Association recruitment day

NSNA logoThe NMC division of the National Student Nursing Association will be holding a recruitment day on March 18 from noon till 3:00 p.m. in the Osterlin Library. During the recruitment day interested students can sign up for the association and will be entered into a drawing for a gas gift card.

The National Student Nursing Association meets once monthly and organizes many outreach activities within the community, including an upcoming food drive for Father Fred on April 7 in the Welcome Center. (more…)

Campus SaVE Act

One year ago today President Obama signed into effect the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE) as a part of the strengthened and reauthorized Violence Against Women Act. The Campus SaVE Act seeks to address the sexual misconduct that can occur on college and university campuses and has a strong focus on promoting transparency, accountability, education, and community collaboration.

Dennos offers Inuit Art Buying Trip to Toronto

Toronto Inuit Art ShowroomJoin Dennos Museum Store Manager Terry Tarnow and other museum staff, April 24-27, 2014, for an excursion to the Inuit Showrooms in Toronto, Ontario.  This trip gives collectors an opportunity to visit four Inuit showrooms not usually open to the public.  For the collector it is a wonderful opportunity to purchase carvings, prints, textiles and gift items from a much larger inventory than is available in the Dennos Museum Store.

Travel day is Thursday, April 27 with all guests traveling on their own and meeting in Toronto where a block of rooms has been reserved at the Bond Place Hotel.  Friday will be a non-stop day of visiting four Inuit showrooms. Saturday the group will visit the Art Gallery of Ontario to view a memorial exhibit of the work of Kenojuak Ashevak who passed away last year.  Visits to other galleries will be added as time allows. Eighth annual Career Fair at the Hagerty Center, March 6

Business NetworkingStudents and the public are invited to NMC’s eighth annual Career Fair, set for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 6 at the Hagerty Center on NMC’s Great Lakes Campus.

Employers from professional and occupational fields will be recruiting for career-track positions, seasonal and entry-level opportunities, as well as internships, service learning and networking opportunities.

Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally, bring resumes and be prepared to talk to local employers about open positions/opportunities. On-site interviews are possible, at the discretion of the employer on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Auto and Diesel Technicians Night – March 5

Auto NightNMC, Northwest Michigan Works and Northwest Michigan Council of Governments is hosting the second annual Auto and Diesel Technicians Night, Wednesday, March 5 at the Parsons-Stulen Building on NMC’s Aero Park Campus (2600 Aero Park Drive) from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Network with local technicians and business owners, see new equipment, gadgets and gear, and learn about training programs.  Recruiters from local companies will be on hand to talk to you about career opportunities.  Admission is free, appetizers will be provided and there will be tool give aways and door prizes to win.
