The Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College will present the exhibition, “如何回归 – How to Return?” – Images by Contemporary Chinese Photographers June 1 – September 7, 2014.
As China reaches the point of its post-boom years, Exhibition Curator, Steven Harris of M97 Gallery, suggests a more contemplative period is setting in. We are entering a time where the general pulse of society has seen through the veil of glittery consumerism and all it promised, and now artists and thinkers are looking, in many ways, how to return to find what’s left of their roots.
This exhibition features the work of seven noted photographers in China: Adou, Huang Xiaoliang, Liang Weizhou, Lu Yanpeng, Luo Dan, Song Chao, and Wang Ningde presenting contemporary images of the Chinese people and environment, reflecting tradition, change and offering social commentary. (more…)
CollegeChoice.net has named Northwestern Michigan College one of the 50 Best Colleges for Summer School.
NMC ranked 46th, just ahead of the University of Hawaii-Maui, and is the only community college on the list.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended and helped enjoy a picture perfect day and made this year’s NMC Barbecue such a big success.
Thousands of people spent hours on the NMC campus enjoying a picnic lunch, music on three different stages, kids’ games, program and classroom displays, and much more.
We served 9,040 meals on May 18, up from last year. Included in that number are 359 local residents who received home-delivered meals through the Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging, which operated out of the kitchen in West Hall.
The NMC BBQ featured a great picnic, great music and perfect weather, but it also marked the reveal of the Northwestern Michigan College Hawk Owl.
Summer is here and the NMC Security Department is asking for your help. On Wednesday, May 14, Security will be tagging bicycles on campus which appear to be abandoned. Bikes slated for pick-up will have a tag attached to the bike’s chain sprocket. If your bicycle is so tagged simply remove the tag to let Security know that the bike is still in use and not abandoned. Bikes with tags left on them will be picked up after noon on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
If you have any questions please contact NMC Security @ 231-995-1111.
Thank you,
