The Marine Technology Society will host a bake sale from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12 in the Timothy J. Innovation Center hallway.

The NMC Jazz Bands are partnering with Toys for Tots for our Swingin’ For The Season concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. This year, we’ll be joined by a fabulous pair of guest vocalists, Emily Kuschell and Scott Carter. Both the Lab Band and Big Band will be playing great holiday and seasonal Jazz, including music from Duke Ellington, WDR Big Band, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Bob Curnow, Frank Sinatra, Rogers & Hammerstein, Bing Crosby, and more!
Each TOY DONATION for Toys for Tots gives you one free admission to the concert. You don’t need to purchase a ticket with a toy donation, and it’s a great opportunity to spread some holiday cheer for those less fortunate! Your new, unwrapped toy can be donated at the door, and we will have people collecting those toys in the lobby. Our event will take place in the magnificent Milliken Auditorium. Known for its state-of-the-art acoustics and comfortable seating, the Milliken Auditorium provides the perfect backdrop for this musical extravaganza. The NMC Jazz Bands, a conglomerate of talented NMC students and community musicians, are all set to dazzle the audience with their musical prowess.

Stop by the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center lobby from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 to see the winning photographs from the Study Abroad 2025 experiences in the landscape/cultural categories and place your vote for your favorite photo in the animal category.
All photos were taken by students during their study abroad experiences in Morocco, Denmark, France and Spain.
Four Souls of Coyote will screen at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in the Dutmers Theater as part of NMC’s Global Cinema Series.
Four Souls of Coyote is an animated feature film that is set in the present day focusing on Native American teenagers who confront the crew of an oil pipeline project, just down the hill from the land of their ancestors. Four Souls of Coyote is billed as an epic adventure tale of the Native American creation myth. Through a unique retelling of the creation of the universe, the film highlights the increasingly pressing need to live in harmony with the environment, before it’s too late.
Running time: 105 minutes.
Admission is FREE and is open to students, staff and the community, although seating is limited. Doors open and 5:30 p.m. and films begin at 6 p.m. in the Dutmers Theater at the Dennos Museum on NMC’s Front Street Campus.

NMC is hosting a mobile pantry on from 3–5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 in the Maple Lot at the Front Street campus.
NMC’s mobile pantry program is designed specifically for NMC students and their families. Mobile pantries provide 7-10 days worth of fresh and shelf-stable goods to supplement family incomes. While this is intended for students, all are welcome. There are no financial requirements or means tests. Drive-thru and walk-up options are both available.
Students are invited to join Grand Valley State University for cider and donuts from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20 in the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center lobby. Learn about the transfer process, explore GVSU’s programs offered in northern Michigan and connect with their academic advisors and admissions team.
Come enjoy some fall treats while discovering everything GVSU has to offer!
Campus Life will host a Disc Golf tournament at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24. Participants will meet in front of East Hall. Prizes will be given for the top participants with the lowest score for 9 holes. Register

Come shop a selection of student and faculty made works during the fall pottery sale from 1–7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21. The sale will be held at the ceramics studio in the Okerstrom Fine Arts Building on NMC’s Front Street Campus (#12 on the campus map).
The Student Ambassador’s are inviting all students and staff to sign up to host a ‘trunk’ for their annual Trunk or Treat! Rain or shine this event will take place from 5:30–7 p.m. on October 23 in the back half of Cherry Lot on NMC’s Front Street Campus. This event is open to the community to come and trick or treat!
If you are a NMC employee or student that would like to decorate your trunk, please fill out the Trunk or Treat form by October 20 so the students can prepare the parking lot.

The World Languages department and Student Life are pleased to announce a new Global Cinema Series. Each month, a film will be shown showcasing important topics in our world. Join us on Thursday, Oct. 16 for a showing of Wrestling Ghosts in support of World Mental Health Day. The documentary follows a young mother grappling with parenting, childhood trauma, and healing. Lisa Thomas, NMC’s Dean of Students, is the moderator.

The NMC Green Team invites fellows students to test your nature knowledge and sharpen your detective skills by participating in a scavenger hunt at the The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. Join Northwestern Michigan College’s International Affairs Forum for a State Theatre Community Night with a documentary film screening of Powerful Women and an in-person presentation by Madhvi Dalal, among the film’s key subjects. Dalal is the founder of PadMad, an initiative working to end period poverty in Kenya, Somalia and Malawi.

Through their work, Padmad has helped thousands of girls, in Kenya and beyond, stay in school by creating access to safe, reusable menstrual products and education. This State Theatre Community Night is presented in partnership with Uplift Travel Foundation, NMC’s International Services & Service Learning Program, and the International Affairs Forum.
