You just got hurt while at work. Maybe you twisted your ankle on the stairs. Maybe you cut your finger, and it won’t stop bleeding. Maybe you touched a plant outside while weeding and developed a rash. WHAT DO YOU DO NEXT?<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In case of a serious injury<\/em><\/strong>:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Call 911<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Provide appropriate first aid if trained<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Do not transport injured\/ill employees<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In all cases, let your supervisor know and ask that HR be notified. If your supervisor is not available, call HR at 995-1025.\u00a0\u00a0 If all you need is a little first aid – maybe a band aid – take care of that immediately. However, if you or your supervisor feel that you need medical attention, you should go to:<\/p>\n

    Occupational Health & Medicine Clinic, 550 Munson Avenue\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 935-8590<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    After 5:00 p.m.<\/em><\/strong>: North Urgent Care Walk-In Clinic, 550 Munson Avenue\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 935-8712<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    10:00 p.m. \u2013 7:00 a.m.<\/em><\/strong>: Munson Emergency Room, 1105 Sixth Street\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 935-6333<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. We are required <\/strong>to have all injured employees take the form\u00a0(<\/em>Initial Authorization to Treat Form<\/em>)<\/em>\u00a0with them when they go in for treatment for a work-related injury.\u00a0The purpose of this form is to authorize the injured employee\u2019s first medical visit treatment.Print out the\u00a0<\/em>Initial Authorization to Treat Form<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>complete the employee information section and authorized supervisor needs to sign it<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. NMC has the right to choose where medical treatment is done during the first 28 days of treatment. Do not go to your personal doctor first, because there is a chance that the bill will not be paid by NMC\u2019s Workers Compensation administrator. When you sign in, let them know it is a Workers Compensation Injury, and that they should bill the College directly, Attn: Human Resources. If they need to verify this, have them call HR at 995-1025. If you should receive any bills for treatment, please forward them to Kelly Westphal in Human Resources.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        1. But you’re not done yet\u2026There are 2 forms that need to be completed – Basic Report of Injury\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Supervisors Accident Investigation form<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
            \n
          1. All three forms are all located on the Intranet in the Forms section under Human Resources – Workers Compensation: https:\/\/intranet.nmc.edu\/forms\/human-resources\/index.html<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n
            1. The release from the doctor should be brought to your supervisor to be sent to HR. There may be restrictions on it that make you unable to perform the major responsibilities of your job, and you may be sent home. If you are off work 7 consecutive days (including weekends) for a Workers Comp claim and still cannot return, HR needs to know this right away. You are eligible for WC payments starting with the 8th<\/sup> day, and information must be sent to our WC administrator so they can calculate this amount and begin paying you. If you are off 14 consecutive days, on the 15th<\/sup> day you are eligible for WC payments back to day 1.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              1. If you do not seek immediate medical care, but go home and then feel later that you do need to see a doctor, follow the same directions written above.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Obviously, prevention is everyone’s first priority and everyone’s job. Please take your time, be careful, and think ahead.
