\"Contemplative,<\/a>The Dennos Museum Center will present the Great Lakes Pastel Society\u2019s 2014 National Juried Exhibition<\/b> April 13 \u2013 May 25, 2014.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is being presented in Traverse City in association with the Society\u2019s annual convention which will be held at the Park Place Hotel from May 16-18, a 3 day educational event filled with presentations and demonstrations designed especially for amateur and professional pastel artists.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features 70 works by artists from across the USA, and one from Spain, that were selected by exhibition juror, Desmond O\u2019Hagan, from 254 works submitted\u00a0 by 97 artists for consideration by the juror.<\/p>\n

The Great Lakes Pastel Society seeks to promote the use of pastels and increase the public awareness of creative pastel painting as a fine art medium. The juror awarded a 1st<\/sup>, 2nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> place and 17 additional awards of merit and sponsored awards which will be presented to the artists at a Pastel Society Members and Guests Reception, Friday, May 16, 2014 from 7-9 PM at the Dennos Museum Center.<\/p>\n

This exhibition was organized by the Great Lakes Pastel Society and is made possible at the Dennos with support from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Robert T. and Ruth Haidt Hughes Memorial Endowment Fund, TV 7&4 and WCMU Public Broadcasting.<\/p>\n

The Dennos Museum Center is open Monday to Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM, Thursday until 8 PM and Sundays 1-5 PM. Admission is $6.00 adults, $4.00 for children and free to museum members.
