Leadership. A critical part of any workplace, it\u2019s easily noticed when absent, but much harder to deliver.
\nRecognizing the importance of doing so, however, a group of NMC faculty and staff spent the last six months focusing on the foundations of leadership at the college. As the annual employee and professional development review process begins, you\u2019re invited to consider joining them.
\nThrough monthly skill-building sessions, individual goal-setting, application to daily work, and colleague support, the participants gained competencies that will increase their effectiveness as supervisors, managers, and directors or as project leads, shared governance and committee leaders.<\/p>\n

What did they find most valuable?<\/strong>
\n\u2022 A comprehensive new feedback tool that drew input from colleagues, direct reports, and supervisors on strengths and areas for growth.
\n\u2022 Time with the Foundation Board representatives, vice presidents and other college leaders
\n\u2022 Learning from each other\u2019s stories and experiences.<\/p>\n

What changes do they recommend?<\/strong>
\nProviding mentors as well as more online resources topped their list. They also agreed the experience needs to spend more time on inspiring collaboration and innovation. \u201cIt\u2019s the key to our future.\u201d<\/p>\n
