{"id":79152,"date":"2022-01-13T12:00:25","date_gmt":"2022-01-13T17:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=79152"},"modified":"2022-01-14T10:32:08","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T15:32:08","slug":"sabbatical-professional-development-leave-priorities-2022-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=79152","title":{"rendered":"Sabbatical &#038; Professional Development Leave Priorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear colleagues:<\/p>\n<p>It is encouraged to link your sabbatical and professional development leave proposals to one or more of the college strategic goals listed below, which have been presented to the Board of Trustees for their approval at their meeting on January 24, 2022, and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/about\/policies\/board-staff\/C-100.00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the college mission<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty Sabbatical Leave Requests \u2013 Faculty must submit endorsed requests electronically to the Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE) by January 17, 2022.\u00a0 Endorsements required: three peers and the appropriate academic chair. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/17ou6U1fh4GriW0Xxgo-yir7fgvJnfMkRyGltol9eZm4\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The application form can be found here<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/employees.nmc.edu\/forms\/academics\/sabbatical-forms\/Criteria-Guideline-Sabbatical.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download the Guidelines\/Criteria for Faculty Sabbatical Requests here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On February 15, CIE forwards the applications to the Vice President for Educational Services, for prioritization by ESIMT.<\/p>\n<p>Staff Sabbatical Leave \u2013 Salaried staff must submit endorsed requests to Mark Liebling, Associate Vice President of Human Resources, by January 31, 2022.\u00a0 Endorsement required: appropriate executive staff officer.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"m_4936883561598652491gmail-docs-internal-guid-78ef214e-7fff-1d29-51af-0338d2352c8f\">The Associate Vice President of Human Resources will review staff applications in consultation with executive staff by March 1, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Final Disposition of Sabbatical Requests \u2013 By April 11, 2022, the Vice President for Educational Services will submit faculty recommendations and the Associate Vice President of Human Resources will submit staff recommendations to the President\u2019s Office to include as a consent item on the Board agenda at their April 25, 2022, meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Professional Development Leave Requests \u2013 Faculty must submit endorsed requests electronically to CIE by February 15, 2022.\u00a0 Endorsement required:\u00a0 the appropriate academic chair. Staff requests should be reviewed as a part of annual goal planning.
