The Dennos Museum Center is offering artists an opportunity to create and sell original art work in the museum\u2019s 6th annual Small Works<\/i><\/b> art sale from May 15-18, 2014.<\/p>\n
Artists are being invited to submit up to 10 works of art in any media with measurements no greater than 5\u201d x 7\u201d x 5\u201d.\u00a0 All art work will be priced at $50 or less. The size restrictions have changed this year to allow for more small pottery and sculptures.<\/p>\n
New this year will be a silent auction of mini canvas pins which artists will paint and donate to the museum to raise funds for the Dennos Education Tour Fund. The pins are 2\u201d X 2\u201d or 1\u201d X 2\u201d and two will be given to any interested artist. Contact the Museum Store, 231-995-1587 or ttarnow@nmc.edu.<\/p>\n
The Small Works<\/i> Sale has been organized to benefit artists and provide art patrons the opportunity to acquire works by artists in a price range accessible to many collectors.<\/p>\n
There is no application fee or jury process for the sale.\u00a0 If the work of art meets the size and price parameters it will be allowed in the sale.<\/p>\n
The Museum\u2019s goal for the sale is to provide artists with additional sales opportunities and encourage patrons to buy original art at an affordable price. This is the fifth year of the Small Works<\/i> sale. Last year 80 artists brought in about 800 works to sell.\u00a0 The sale was a great success with over $7,500 in gross sales.<\/p>\n
The Small Works<\/i> sale, open to the public, will begin with the sale and reception from 5:00 pm \u2013 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 15.\u00a0 The sale will continue Friday, May 16rd<\/sup> and 17th from 10:00 am \u2013 5:00 pm and Sunday, May 18, (During the NMC BBQ) from 11:00 a.m. \u2013 4:00 pm.
