{"id":7173,"date":"2013-12-18T14:59:23","date_gmt":"2013-12-18T19:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=7173"},"modified":"2014-01-03T12:31:31","modified_gmt":"2014-01-03T17:31:31","slug":"six-job-training-agreements-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=7173","title":{"rendered":"Six job training agreements approved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NMC&#8217;s Board of Trustees on Monday approved training agreements with six regional companies that will create 93 new jobs by 2018.<!--more-->The agreements range from five to eight years, and fully leverage the current allocation\u00a0of $500,000 available to NMC through the New Jobs Training Program, passed by the Michigan Legislature in 2008. The agreements bring to 297 the number of new jobs created in northwest Michigan since NMC inked its first agreement with Electro Optics Technology in 2010. All jobs must pay above\u00a0\u00a0$12.95 per hour.<\/p>\n<p>Electro-Optics, a Traverse City manufacturer of semiconductors and other components of laser systems is again among the six approved Monday. They have expanded their initial agreement to create 21 news jobs by 2016. Hagerty Insurance, which initially signed an agreement in 2012, also expanded its 2012 initial agreement and will create 31 jobs by 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The other four new companies are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hayes Manufacturing Inc., Fife Lake, mechanical power transmission equipment manufacturing &#8211; Three new jobs by 2018<\/li>\n<li>Materne North America, Grawn, fruit processing &#8211; 17 new jobs by 2016<\/li>\n<li>Skilled Manufacturing, Traverse City, Aircraft and motor vehicle parts &#8211; 13 new jobs by 2016<\/li>\n<li>TentCraft Inc., Traverse City, textile bag and canvas mills &#8211; Eight new jobs by 2016<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other companies that have created new jobs through training agreements with NMC include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Armor Express, Central Lake<\/li>\n<li>Century Extrusion and Century Inc, Traverse City<\/li>\n<li>Moran Iron Works, Inc.. Onaway<\/li>\n<li>Precision Edge Surgical Products LLC, Boyne City<\/li>\n<li>Shoreline Fruit LLC, Traverse City<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The New Jobs Training Program \u00a0provides funding for organizations to pay for staff development\u00a0in new positions paying above $12.95 per hour.
