{"id":6918,"date":"2013-11-13T10:57:24","date_gmt":"2013-11-13T15:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=6918"},"modified":"2013-11-15T10:58:47","modified_gmt":"2013-11-15T15:58:47","slug":"benefits-corner-are-you-now-eligible-for-medicaid-in-michigan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=6918","title":{"rendered":"Benefits corner- Are you now eligible for medicaid in Michigan?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More people in Michigan are now eligible for Medicaid.\u00a0 If you or your family earns up to 133% of the federal poverty level, you may qualify.<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For a Household of 1, eligibility is at $15,200.\u00a0 <b><\/b><\/li>\n<li>For a Household of 4, eligibility is at $31,300.\u00a0 <b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires most Americans to have health insurance in 2014 or pay a fee.\u00a0 If you can\u2019t pay for it on your own, Medicaid is an option that can lower the cost.\u00a0 You\u2019ll get the same type of health care coverage that you may have gotten through an employer or paid for on your own in the past.\u00a0 And if you haven\u2019t had health insurance before, Medicaid is a way to get it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How do you sign up for Medicaid?\u00a0 Here are 4 steps you should take to sign up for Medicaid:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Find out if you\u2019re eligible, get your questions answered, and apply.\u00a0 There are three places you can go:\n<ul>\n<li>Online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthcare.gov\">www.healthcare.gov<\/a> <b><\/b><\/li>\n<li>Online at<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mibridges.michigan.gov\/access\">www.mibridges.michigan.gov\/access<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Your local Department of Human Services (DHS) office<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Once you apply, DHS will decide if you qualify.\u00a0 If you do, you\u2019ll get a mihealth card in the mail that has your Medicaid ID number.<\/li>\n<li>Call Michigan Enrolls toll-free at 888-367-6557 and give them the Medicaid ID number on your mihealth card.\u00a0 They will answer your questions and help you enroll in a Medicaid health plan.\u00a0 Remember, you can either choose a plan within 30 days or you\u2019ll be assigned to one.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ll begin receiving care from your Medicaid health plan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More people in Michigan are now eligible for Medicaid.\u00a0 If you or your family earns up to 133% of the federal poverty level, you may qualify.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[68],"tags":[1965,1439,815,60,1964,1966],"class_list":["post-6918","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-intercom","tag-affordable-care-act","tag-benefits-corner","tag-health-insurance","tag-human-resources","tag-medicaid","tag-michigan"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Benefits corner- Are you now eligible for medicaid in Michigan?
