{"id":5836,"date":"2013-07-27T10:21:56","date_gmt":"2013-07-27T14:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=5836"},"modified":"2013-08-02T10:36:19","modified_gmt":"2013-08-02T14:36:19","slug":"benefits-corner-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=5836","title":{"rendered":"Benefits corner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Tuition Waiver for Dependents<\/b><\/p>\n<p>NMC offers a tuition waiver based on the employee\u2019s appointment percent for regular employees and their dependents covering the cost of tuition for courses offered by the College (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/about\/policies\/board-staff\/D-711.00.html\">D-711.00<\/a>), and for adjunct instructors and their dependents based on the number of contacts they taught in the previous year (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/about\/policies\/board-staff\/D-712.00.html\">D-712.00<\/a>).\u00a0 If any of your dependents age 19 or older are planning to take classes, you must confirm their dependent status is in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code\u2019s definition of dependency <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">each semester<\/span> that they enroll.\u00a0 <i>(This does not apply to spouses.)<\/i>\u00a0 According to IRS Publication 501, a qualifying child must meet the five tests of relationship, age, residency, support and joint return.
