{"id":51060,"date":"2020-04-09T17:21:26","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T21:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=51060"},"modified":"2020-04-09T17:21:26","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T21:21:26","slug":"update-for-nmc-students-governor-extends-stay-home-stay-safe-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nmc.edu\/?p=51060","title":{"rendered":"Update for NMC Students: Governor extends &#8220;Stay Home, Stay Safe&#8221; order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear students:<\/p>\n<p>As our state continues efforts to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/whitmer\/0,9309,7-387-90499_90640-525173--,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stay Home, Stay Safe order<\/a> through April 30. To support this effort, and comply with the order, Northwestern Michigan College will extend the closure of all five of its campuses in Traverse City through April 30.<\/p>\n<p>Virtual instruction of classes will continue through the end of the semester May 2. You can also see a complete list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/news\/2020\/03\/nmc-to-limit-public-access.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">canceled events here<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The following NMC services remain closed:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Hawk Owl Caf\u00e9 in the Oleson Center<\/li>\n<li>Northwest Grind\u2013Starbucks in Osterlin Library<\/li>\n<li>The NMC Fitness Center<\/li>\n<li>The NMC Bookstore<\/li>\n<li>Osterlin Library<\/li>\n<li>Lobdell\u2019s: A Teaching Restaurant<\/li>\n<li>The Hagerty Center<\/li>\n<li>The Dennos Museum Center\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is an unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to communicate with you to keep you safe and limit the disruption to learning as much as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your instructor or use this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/health-services\/corona-virus\/feedback-form.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">feedback form<\/a> and one of our student support team members will get back to you within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>As we get updates and changes, we post them first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/health-services\/corona-virus\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nmc.edu\/coronavirus<\/a>. Please check there for the latest information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Available resources:<\/h3>\n<p>NMC has also compiled a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/keep-learning\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list of resources<\/a> to help you succeed in your studies during this challenging time, which include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/health-services\/corona-virus\/student-services.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Student Services<\/a> including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/advising-center\/contact-advising.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">advising<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/personal-counseling\/contact-counseling.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">personal counseling<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmc.edu\/student-services\/tutoring-support\/tutoring-center.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free tutoring<\/a> are also available.<a href=\"https:\/\/elearn.nmc.edu\/course\/view.php?id=18474\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Online tutoring <\/a>in math, Biology, A\/P, Chemistry, Accounting, Spanish and Computers is available now. Zoom sessions are also available.
