Costs associated with an unexpected illness or accident can have a serious effect on your family\u2019s finances.\u00a0\u00a0To help increase your financial protection, Northwestern Michigan College is offering eligible employees an opportunity to apply for Critical Illness and\u00a0Accidental\u00a0Injury insurance through Cigna effective May 1, 2013. \u00a0The enrollment period for this insurance is\u00a0April 8 \u2013 19, 2013.<\/b><\/p>\n

Critical Illness\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Accidental<\/b>\u00a0<\/b>Injury\u00a0<\/b>insurance can help you pay out-of-pocket expenses not covered by traditional insurance. These plans provide a lump sum, cash payment directly to you as a result of a covered accident or serious illness. You can spend the money however you choose or use it to help pay for additional expenses such as transportation, room and board, child care, rehabilitation, and more.<\/p>\n

This coverage is being offered to\u00a0regular employees as well as adjunct and supplemental employees who have worked an average of 10 hours per week over a recent 12-month period<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0It does not replace regular medical insurance or cover medical service claims, but it can supplement you with cash payments should you or your enrolled dependents experience a critical illness or\u00a0accidental\u00a0injury.\u00a0\u00a0If you qualify for this insurance, you will have received an email from me earlier this week.<\/p>\n
